Suggestion:Why not make a super novice class?
The whole jist of the idea being that you can make a build entirely with book skills by extending the general skill tab to 2 pages

and it gets its own passive which allows all round damage scaling with all stats but with diminishing returns for stats that exceed the others significantly

I like the prospect of prestige classes for Novice due to the lore implications. Because as far as I understand it, every class has to draw all of its class powers from the respective guardian, and is therefore entirely reliant on them. The concept of a self-sustainable character that searches for the power within rather than the power without is an intriguing one.

Actually when you put it like that it does sound pretty cool.

I feel like that SHOULD a "super novice" be added, it should require you to get to like 3/4 to end game level cap without picking a class.

Why bother going small? Make the supernovice / novice prestiges be available at level cap only. I made it far enough to reach 25 with a novice, I can make it far enough to reach 30 at that point. Will make it feel more grand and meaningful, too.

Please can you share what your experience was like playing novice to such a high level? How did it compare to other classes?

It's not that big a deal, to be honest. You're more or less a mage academy dropout. Most of the scroll skills are mind spells, and the best healing skill in the game is a mind spell scroll, so you just play a mage with crappy damage because you're not allowed to wear any mystic gear with all the tasty magic power stats.

My setup was Spire, Fireball, Cryo Needle, Divine, and the remaining two were Alacrity and Recovery because I ran out of scroll space. I could probably replace one of these with Sturdy if I skipped the useless bell mastery or played a chang.

My stats were 25 VIT and 55 MIND, more or less a 2 to 1 split.

My weapon of choice was the hammer for no other reason than because that character roleplays as a blunt weapon specialist.

It was definitely less peachy than playing a proper mystic due to lower damage and worse mana regen, but it wasn't that much tougher.

Thank you, I feel like I have a better understanding of novice and mystic classes now.

Like Faust says is not really a big deal, I mostly did it for fun and you end up gimping your self by not being able to get any of the class specific skills and Armors.

For my setup I picked Imp as a class to have Siphon Leech as my source of healing until I can learn Divine, Fireball, Cryo Needle and Execute. (I think Spire would be better for the bleed)

For weapons I went Sword and Scepter so I could have a shield at all times for their stats, with skill points it might not be optimal but I went Str,Mnd,Vit each level with the initial 6 points into from the character creator into Dex.

Gameplay you pretty much just use Divine, and go crazy and use Siphon Leach from time to time, Fire Ball and Cryo Needle are pretty much available at all times with their low cd whhich is why I didn't pick Spire, once enemies get to below 30% HP use Execute and it also work on bosses.

Thanks I'm learning a lot.
