Blue Kubold Mouths- what are we thinking?
Is it a blue tongued skink situation, where just that part is blue colored because of like pigments or whatever, or is it more of a "Spock has green-tinged makeup because he's literally supposed to have green blood" dealio?

And if every kubold mouth option in the character creator is blue (which they are, i just checked), then does Angela having a pink mouth make it less likely she herself is a kubold and just happens to resemble one, or is that just a coincidence and kubolds having pink mouths is just like super rare or a region-based thing? (since Angela is probably from Crescent Grove according to her relevant quest dialogue)

Idk. Looks good on my kubold so I'm aight with it
Interesting observation. I'll have to go back through some of Angela's quest dialogue, but working off of these observations, I'd guess she's more closely related to pre-corruption Carbuncles than kubolds. That would help to explain why carbuncles are throwing around Cross and Fluxbolt, since those are both spells ostensibly developed by Angela. It also makes me wonder if higher tier carbuncles will start launching attacks like Fluxspear or Nova, or buffing themselves with Prism to last longer.
I had been assuming that the pre-corruption Carbuncles *were* Kubolds, or, phrased differently, Carbuncles are what you get when whatever corruptive force that blighted the Grove gets to ♥♥♥♥ up a Kubold

Complicating matters is that Enok also seems to have lived in or around the Grove, or at least close enough to have known the Colossus Brothers personally before they were corrupted and presumably built the Colossus (which also seems to indicate the Grove corruption changes your personality to some extent rather than just wiping out your sapience altogether, since the Bros are the source of the Colossus's battle banter and they seem to have a lot of personality)

Anyway I do hope stronger Carbuncles get more/different spells instead of just casting higher ranked versions of the two they've got; I also kind of hope stronger Carbuncles are visibly wearing the Carbuncle Robe instead of just being straight recolors or retextures or something, or whatever upgraded robe they end up dropping instead
Carbuncles having been Kubolds is a possibility. The main issue I see with it is that Kubolds are supposed to originate from a magically sealed desert, while Carbuncles are at least implied to be native to the grove. Between that, the axolotl-ish statues lining the walkway to the fortress on the title screen, the orca-rabbits, and my own hopes for more non-player races, I do lean towards Carbuncles being their own thing.

I will admit, part of the above also leans on me misremembering Enok's quest dialogue as referring to the brothers as carbuncles prior to their corruption. No reason corrupted Kubolds couldn't be made to move to a ruined city within a forest. That said, I haven't seen much information on whether the corruption warps the forms of those corrupted. The various boars are modified by whatever lurks within the Tuul Valley labyrinth, and Slimeks are supposed to be "infused with tar." Whether as a symptom or means of the corruption, or as a result of the Slime Diva's meddling is unclear to me.

Given class advancement is eventually going to be a thing, at least for another tier, it would be fun for higher tier carbuncles and their ilk to start throwing around those spells, or more spells. Or even to have multiple varieties, something like healers and battle mages. Something to complicate the target priorities a little: would you rather take out the poisonous biter making you miserable, or the healer keeping that poisonous biter alive through more of the beating you want to give it?
