please give me some way to disable the enchantment glints (also weapon vanity slot)
the enchantment glints on weapons makes them look significantly worse for me imo, itd be great to have a toggle glint button like the toggle visibility we currently have.
absolute best case scenario imo is having a vanity weapons slot plus toggle glint, though i can imagine itd be hard to decide how to handle weapons of a different type than your actual weapon.
you could limit weapon vanity to only be the same type as the weapon in that slot, although to a degree i feel like doing heavy melee upgraded aerial with a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bell (tacobell bong sound effect) would be a good kind of goofy to have.

it would seem that i am an idiot, there is a disable weapon glow effect at the very bottom of the options.
still, weapon vanity slot would be nice, and maybe you could still have the glint toggle so you can make it disabled for other people seeing your specific weapon, though i definitely wouldnt complain if not since it's somewhat redundant

I think weapon vanity is not up because the current system won't be able to recognize between a weapon and it's vanity version. As in, swinging a bow like a sword or a staff, or firing arrows from an axe.

are you saying that the way its coded currently wont allow there to be a difference between the visual of the weapon and the attack type, or that it's not added because that wouldnt make sense?
i think youre saying the first one, in which case that's reasonable, and i can just hope the creator finds time to make that possible or at least implements vanity for the current attack style.

It's just a possibility. The dev actually said in the faq that the game won't have a weapon transmog feature, but I don't know the reason. It could be about the code requiring something more complex, or the dev simply not wanting people using a weapon look to hide another. Then again, he said transmog, which could imply a more permanent change of appearance, and not vanity, which is the appearance when worn by a character. So like everything else, we wait and see.

Yeah I imagine that with the current system part of the issue is that 'what if you add a nice looking bell to your vanity weapon slot, but later decide to use a staff and (modified) sword? does the vanity just not show up at all anymore?'.

Maybe things are also a little weird with how some weapons have different visual effects but that might not be too much of an issue conpared to the above.
Yes it is due to the fact that 7 item types can be in the weapon slot, while all other slots have 1. If you vanity a hammer then use katars you would be punching quickly while holding a massive mallet in one hand.

Weapon vanity would probably require something like having a separate slot for each type of weapon. So you'd have a sword slot, a bell slot, a bow slot, etc. Each slot would only accept a weapon of that type, and only apply if you had that type of weapon equipped, too.

For example: If you used the Rude Blade as your sword cosmetic, any sword type weapon you equipped would look like the Rude Blade. But it wouldn't affect any other weapons. If you switched to a bell, it would still look like whatever bell you are actually using.

So yeah, it would be a lot more complicated than armor or shield cosmetics. And I can understand why Kiseff wouldn't want to spend the time to get it working. Especially when there's so much else that still needs to be done.
i would like to reiterate that i like the idea of being able to have a weapon of the wrong type as vanity, that sounds funny as heck and would allow for cool customization.
sure it could be used to just look dumb and shoot arrows with a giant club but it could also be used to shoot projectiles with a sword or hit people with a bell which sounds like fun to me.
someone pointed out to me that kiseff said he isnt adding weapon transmog and after spending way too long looking for a source on my own time, apparently its in the pinned forum FAQ... dang this post really was pointless :p

im not sure yet if ill delete this post yet, if i do then ill probably at least wait a while so people subbed to the discussion can see what i just said

it seems that weapon transmog just isnt coming if you look at the faqs, which is mostly a disapointment but makes sense seeing how transmog in many games are optional and I'd perfer if they spend more time on the next dungeon then something optional. We already have armor transmog which is a lot more then a lot of other mmos.

I think the thread should stay even if the faq says it's not coming. The thread being here is damaging nobody, and is still a discussion and evidence that some people are open to the idea.

Its definitely good to share your opinions, as long as you're not being obnoxious about it. Who knows, if enough of us ask for weapon transmog, Kiseff may end up adding it at some point.

I would certainly like to see it added at some point, because there are a lot of cool looking weapons that don't really have good enough stats to be worth using. So being able to use them as a skin for something that does actually have good stats, would be really nice. I always hate having to choose between stats and style.

But, I'm not going to hold my breath. Because as I said, it would be a LOT of work to get it implemented.

I'd like to emphasize the "not being obnoxious about it" part. We've had enough people on here trying to treat a suggestion box like a board meeting or a TED talk.

End of the day It's Kiseffs call on everything, so as long as you can handle the probability of him just going "nah not happening", or others disagreeing with you about it and staying chill, I say keep the thread up.
yeah ill probably just leave the thread up.
i do have a little bit more to say about enchantment glints, yesterday i played minecraft 1.21.4 for the first time and realized there were a few slider settings for changing the enchantment glints, i think they were visibility and speed? could be a good example to take from.
