There are some AOE effects that are on the ground that can give you poison. Gotta be wary of hazards that enemies can put down. It's gotten me more than once.

Wisps do seem to be a bit inconsistent with that. Parrying seems to block their poison or curse almost every time, but not EVERY time. And it seems to get through blocking even more frequently.

I would say it might be something to do with lag somehow applying the status effect at a different time than the attack damage. But I play almost exclusively solo, so that shouldn't be an issue at all.

yeah i get it on solo too. I kept assuming it was a thing that the toxic ones did when you got close to them, as if theyre like radioactive or something, but it started feeling really wrong when i got to the maws.
