No way to change it right now. I'd also like a name change option, I'm sorta stuck not being able to play mystic because I still haven't quite decided on a name for him and that's one of the 3 things you can't change down the line, the other two being race and class.

Apparently you can edit a file for your chara outside the game in notepad and find the nickname value and you can change it there.... that way you can override the 18 character limit but i wouldn't Recommend going past it. Wouldn't doubt an update will eventually put it in game.

like snintendog said it looks like there is a way by going into the game files ! though haven't tried it yet, this guide shows you how

a way to do it in-game would be nice for sure, also i'm at level 10 and personally stuck at the moment on what class i wanna be, especially since it looks like certain clothing and weapons are class exclusive ! i'm enjoying the heavy weapons, swords, and magic pretty equally, may commit to warrior for the swords + heavy weapons, but would like to see what the robe and bandit outfits look like too, and if there's a way to do like a melee + magic build or something like that

Weapons can now be used on any class with minimal tinkering. A weapon that scales off Strength can be enchanted (Vivian, little mouse at the home base) to scale off Mind or Dexterity. And all weapon mastery passives are now acquired through scrolls independently of the class. This means that a weapon choice isn't particularly important to the class as of now, although some minor variations apply (Bandit has melee weapon skills and bow skills, and fighter has melee weapon skills, so you better see if the non-weapon bandit/fighter skills will be good enough for you to stick with them, for example). I'm currently rolling a polearm mystic. A "battlemage", if you will. It's quite effective on account of the melee stun spell, the shield spell, and a "sanctuary"-like scroll spell called Divine which creates a field that rapidly heals allies (including the caster) and damages opponents for 5ish seconds (Divine is not a mystic spell, it's a scroll spell, so it can be used by anyone, but it does scale off Mind, so it's more effective on mystics, although it's still a rock solid healing skill for any class). Luckily Mystic doesn't have any weapon skills so it's not bogged down by weapon choices at all.

In short, you only need to research the class exclusive skills (wiki can help, fandom one has a seemingly up to date list), and outfits. Hope that helps make the choice easier.

thank you that's a ton of help, that's awesome that you can have a combination of different playstyles and you aren't as locked in to one path and type of stats as i first thought, i'll look up the class exclusives and i'll probably go for a similar magic melee build ! i like doing a similar thing in fromsoftware games too

i'm using a combination of geist scythe and vile blade at the moment, as soon as i saw the scythe drop i knew i wanted to use it :3
