Vanity system thoughts
For the most part I like the vanity system. The one thing that kind of troubles me is having your vanity item dissapear when you equip something new (in that type of slot). It's not tough to get more illusion stones so reaplying the vanity is easy, but you're getting decent amount of new equipment all the time so I want to try it all out and see how it will look on my character. Is there any chance we can get something like a preview option for the clothes so you don't have to reapply the vanity every time you get some new items you want to try out?

I'd suggest entirely separate vanity slots independent of the gear. So you don't transmute your gear, but just equip cosmetics into separate slots where they stay regardless of what you put on or take off. Wardrobe, some games call this term. This game is almost diablo-like in the sheer number of gear you get, so tying cosmetics to transmutes is just really cruel overall, but especially so to early and mid game players who swap gear like surgical gloves.

Agreed, but it also mostly removes needs for vanity stones (apart from changing body).

If anything, maybe cosmetics should be equipable/unequipable for free at anytime, but transmog items should use vanity stones?

Might be basically what Faust is saying, but ye, agreed.

I mean vanity stones won't be 100% useless if they just allowed you to keep a look you like for clothes as they allow you tweak the character too. It's silly you can't keep a look once you make it if you switch a piece out. I say just remove them as a need for transmog or all together and just make you pay the 300 gold to edit the character.

I don't feel like lessening the "need for vanity stones" is a drawback, they exist for the vanity system not the other way around.

Too many hoops for vanity. Plus if you change the gear, the vanity disappears. Bad game design. Mods will save this or it'll just not be happening. Nothing like winning some stuff from 10,000 gold gambling, only to have it vanish in a puff of smoke due to...*checks notes*

I wish vanity stones just let you turn gear into vanity slot gear. If the point is that you're supposed to use tons of vanity stones to extend the grind, maybe require more vanity stones for rarer gear to become vanity slot gear? But in a game where your gear rotates this much (and will as the level cap is increased and more content is added), I'm just never gonna touch the vanity system.

I wholeheartedly agree that I wish it didn't remove the current vanity item when changing gear.

If possible, I would like the vanity system, and if possible, weapons too, would follow the path Final Fantasy 14 did with the glamour system.

There you use a Crystal with an equipment turning it entirely into a cosmetic Item.

Here, we could use the vanity stone like the glamour crystal.
