For those having trouble with Uplay at launch
Alright, so I'm hoping this helps someone since a lot of people seem to be having the same issue and I haven't seen any solutions posted.

When I first installed the game it basically tried to start up, then announced that UPlay had a heart attack. After that it'd just flash a black screen then crash without launching UPlay or giving any sort of clue on wth was going on. I tried verifying the game cache, which it found the faulty UPlay files (but didn't redownload them properly), then reinstalling UPlay alone (manually) and after that failed I reinstalled the entire game via Steam...which apparently didn't touch UPlay and was a waste of time. Needless to say, nothing worked.

What finally did the trick was uninstalling UPlay itself (Ubisoft folder in program files if you didn't know - just run the uninstall exe file in the UPlay folder there), then launched TS:WC and let -it- reinstall UPlay. Worked like a charm.

Mine is a bit different, when I even try to launch the game it just goes to a black screen and in a flash it crashes saying that there was a problem and gives me no further details before quitting.

Same here despite multiple restarts, running uplay, reinstalling uplay etc.

Souls like the same problem as I am having. I am even considering about returning the game my self.

Ah eww. My best thought is maybe one of your drivers are out of date. Have you tried opening UPlay on its own? If that works, you should be able to run the game after. Will at least narrow it down to either UPlay or the game itself.

I'm considering returning it just for the fact that I didn't get the DLCs I ordered (still locked in-game apparently)...which I bought separately (not the hall of fame edition). Hoping you at least get to experience the game first. Interesting to play.
