What is the point in Gold?

Will there ever be a use for gold, buying better bait, rods and the like, or is it merely to show off that you're top with your points?

For now it's just points, but in the near future I plan to add a way for viewers to redeem the gold for cosmetics like different rods, lures or even bait to improve the chances of more valuable fish!

My Twitch viewers (new and returning) keep asking what is "gold" for. I'd be really happy if this update comes out! I'd be even willing to pay $ for "in-app" purchase options for certain fish "packs". Any update on such thing? Thank you so much! This game has turned my TWITCH channel into something that no one has for the game(s) iI stream.

Thats awesome. I was wondering how hard it would be to track how much gold/fish is obtained per stream or channel. Creators could choose to use that data for Milestones. I.E. catch 50 fish and we'll celebrate in some way. Or obtain 5000 gold and we will do a giveaway. Thank you for this game. Its a fun addition to content creation.
