CD Key ?

I just bought Fritz and the DLC Deep Fritz, I installed components, etc., but when I start it I am asked for a "CD Key". I have no CD Key. When it starts Steam warns me that I may need a serial Key, and provides me with a serial number like this :

"12345-12345-1234567-12345"

But Fritz is asking for a 5-word serial key, like :

"12345-12345-12345-12345-12345"

I asked at Chessbase's support, and their answer was simply that this was not a valid serial key, that I needed a 5-word cd key.

So, I bought Fritz & Deep Fritz at Steam, but can't play because I have no "CD Key".

Any ideas ?

click the cd key link in your library entry for fritz...you may have typed something wrong....alternatively you can copy and paste from steam to fritz should make life a lil easier

When you first launch the game, it will show you , your CD Key. Hit copy to clip board and start the game.

When you start the game for the first time, the serial key should already be filled in for you. All you have to do is enter the verification letters.

Additionally, when you start the game, click File and then Activate and you will have to enter the verification letters one more time, but its a one time process after that your done with it.

But I haven't typed anything. Steam provides me a serial key when Fritz starts. But it is not a 5-words key :(

Exactly, it shows me a serial key.... that doesn't matches the pattern that Fritz expects.
And so, when I start the game the serial key is allred filled in, and so Fritz complains that it is not a valid cd key :(

I will try File and Activate, but I am almost sure that it will open the same window asking for a 5-word key (format 5-5-5-5-5), when Steam gives me a 4 words key, format 5-5-7-5

One screenshot, I need you to send me a picture of Steam opening with the CD Key showing, and also I need you to send me a screenshot of the error that's taking place when your trying to activate the product.

It is a serial key in format 5-5-7-5. Very strange.

Strange, they indicate big resolutions, but when opening they are very small.

Okay. I want you to try typing in the key manually , write it down and manually enter the key. It should work then. If it does, we need to fix this. Please type it in by hand and don't add dashes in there.

But I need a 5-words CD key, 5 characters each. 25 characters total, and I have only 22 characters. 5 + 5 + 7 + 5, only 22. Not enough.

I will notify our QA department tomorrow on this. I will see if I can get you a working key and then we will email it to you in this case. It's odd that you would receive something like this and it sounds like something we need to let Steam know about on our end. Stay tuned...

We have replaced this users key with the correct one. We are also placing a announcement in the community hub about this too.
