Yesterday I bought Fritz 14 which is my first chess application ever.
I notice that that my main engine is already set to Deep Fritz 14 x64 so I guess I don't need to buy the DLC for multi core support?
64 bit code running on one core, I would assume.
I agree. The game is obviously written to use multiple cores and has multicore processing just turned off with a flag in the normal version so they can justify charging more to the hardcore users who search positions and so on and need the multicore processing vs. the people who just use the game to play a quick game of chess against the computer.
As stated before, I'm a total beginner. I'm planning on using the application by playing many games vs the engine and I also want to analyse the game and learn from my mistakes but if I have to wait a few minutes longer for it to analyse my noob moves, than it's something I can live with.
there are other engines you can "plugin" to fritz as well some of which are freely available on the internet. stockfish is my defacto go to engine. it's super fast and makes the default engine in frtiz look like a patzer haha....also one of the kewl things i like about fritz is on top of being able to play games against various engines you can play online and the software automatically stores all your online games in a database for later analysis. good luck with your chess :)
So it looks like I have the multi core dee fritz engine but I haven't paid for the DLC. I just bought the game on steam.
Is this a glitch or is it normal that I have access to this engine?
not sure but i say don't question the good ;)
