Fritz Chess 14

Fritz Chess 14

Download free Chess engines for Fritz 14
For anyone who is not familiar with Fritz you can download tons of free chess engines to play against besides Fritz itself. Just do a google search for free uci chess engines, download them, and in Fritz 14 select "Create UCI Engine", select the engine .exe you downloaded and you have a new opponent to play against. Stockfish 5 just came out, it's the strongest out there and totally free.

yep, stockfish 5 is officially the strongest engine in the world. not the best for analysis still (imo) but you can't beat free.

Thank you for the info. Personaly I use Fritz to train and analyse games. I'm far from 3000 ELO and both will kick my butt anyway :D
Will this version support UCI engines that can use remote/LAN analysis engines in addition to multiple CPU cores? That seems to be a strong trend in engine development; otherwise, what's the (practical) point of 128-core support? Didn't know Stockfish 5 was released; is it really stronger than Houdini? Can you post some results from 'engine matches'? If not, no big deal.. I'm about to start my own. Thanks for the info.
I just played a match between Stockfish 5 and Houdini 4 in a 30 game blitz match, I don't recall the final score but it was very lopsided in favor of Stockfish 5.
there are official testers who run engine-engine matches that are going to have a far larger & more accurate sample size than any match you'll run on your own machine. SF is simply stronger. despite that houdini does give more balanced evals, & komodo gives imo the best, but its the weakest of the bunch tactically.
^^

the #4 engine on the list, gull, is also free & has since gotten stronger, it is at least at version 3.0 now. just a couple seconds to download it & SF 5 & 99% of people should be pretty well set.
