point gain in ranked

so can anyone explain to me how i had highest healing in the game with 35k and only got 18 points towards my new rank and someone else in my party got over 40 towards theirs

Don't be a strategist, the new system screws them over. If you must be one, prioritize elims over all else. Oh yeah, and don't play Rocket, he gets double screwed.

the rocket on my team had less heals than me and got over 40 points towards his rank up and i was invis and only got 18. as a support main i'm so confused how all of this works

Huh. Weird. I don't know then. I've heard Rockets almost as a rule get terrible gains of +20ish every time. Maybe the Rocket was much lower ranked than any of you were.

Dunno then, but I wouldn't be surprised if the system is horrible. I've lost all faith in this dev team. This season is a trainwreck on many levels.

both teams were a mix of silver and bronze as most games are currently in season 2. just really confused as to why i'm getting less points when i'm sure everyone else got more points than me for having more kills

They mentioned soemwhere how they made points for rank ups and downs more twords individual skill, Tho i dont think explained exactly how. the algorithum might punish u for heal botting if the rocket did dmg or got a ton of assists from Ult and such. If he got MVP he supose to get more points but dont know how much more.

The new system is primarily to help further push EOMM agenda. I played a game as Rocket and got +17 then my very next game I played as Adam Warlock and got +27. Were my stats completely better one game over the other? Nope! Both stomps on the enemy team, for some reason I got 10 more points for a game. Matchmaking is going to get A LOT worse, please do not take the ranked in this game seriously it's so artificial.

It's based on MVP points and your rank vs the enemy team (if your rank is lower, you get more, if it's higher, you get less. This mainly happens through grouping).

It's never been exactly clear what influences MVP, but if you were at least fighting for MVP for most of the match you'll get a lot of points.

He is lower rank, and lower ranks earn more points + the average lobby is higher than his rank and lower than yours, so he got more points and you less.

Just a quick example:

I have the highest point gain in this match at 41, but I am not MVP. The MVP gains 31. The other support, who is also not MVP (obviously) gains 36.

So what happened here? Look at the final rank score. The Jeff and I were both Silver 1 coming in, but everyone else was already Gold 3. Since we were below the level of the lobby, we gained more points.

It's also worth noting that win and loss points are now mostly equalized by gold, as numerous players on the enemy team lose 27+, which is close to what the MVP gained. This season they have significantly increased the number of points you lose when you lose games. So the "you can rank up with <50% win rate" thing is mostly gone now, save for the small boost the Chrono Shield provides.

It's terrible and that's why Players are abandoning this rigged Cash cow Garbage in droves.


If this Thing survives until the End of the Year, only highly intelligent "Professional players" made by EOMM will remain.

In my experience, being a support sucks with the new system. The only time I've gotten +38 was by playing adam warlock.
