Crashing at Launch
It would be nice to actually play the game, but it keeps crashing on startup. This has been happening for two days ever since the latest update dropped. At first, even trying to update the game was slower than snot. I left my PC on overnight just to let it finish updating. When I woke up, I restarted my computer and tried launching the game. The launcher opened, and I was prompted with the option to launch in shader compilation mode, which I selected. But as soon as I hit launch, I got slapped with this error:

I’ve tried just about everything I could find online to fix this. I’ve verified the integrity of the game files, restarted, reinstalled, and even messed with launch options still no dice. The farthest I’ve gotten is 5% on the loading screen before it crashes. Before that, it wouldn’t even get past 4%. I’ve seen some people mention the game has issues with high core count CPUs, but that shouldn’t be a thing in 2025. I’ve got 28 cores, and if this game can’t handle that despite launching in December 2024 then that’s a serious problem. Shouldn't have issues that plagues older games released decades prior *cough* The Sims 3 *cough* I was really looking forward to this update since the announcement and haven’t been able to play a second of it. NetEase is worth $64.99 billion, and issues like this should be identified and patched immediately, especially when players have already reported them.

The issue isn't corelated to core count as much as it is caused by unstable CPU in Raptor Lake family, the higher tier it is the more prominent the instability is.

for real. damn near 48 hours and not even a mention to fix

It is not the CPU the chip degradation was corrected with a BIOs update last year this is something else entirely

It’s giving EA because rather than address the issue themselves they leave it up to the public to make fixes.

This has been an issue since the game came out. It'll crash at the "click to start" screen the moment you click, maybe once, twice, three times in a row, even more sometimes, before it finally works and lets you reach the main menu.

It seemed to happen much less frequently throughout season 1.5, but since the latest patch, this issue is back in full force.

I spent the last 2 days trying everything I could find online. Verifying files, reinstalling the game, overclocking, messing with nvidia panel and restored my drivers. Nothing works. I either get this message or like a pop up saying I don't have enough video memory.

I have an Intel i7, 32 g ram and a 4080 Super. My computer has less than a year. I thought maybe it was my graphic card but seeing all the ppl having this issue is quite concerning...

could you try going into files there, H:\workspace\S2_1_release\UnrealEngine\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\
delete the ShaderCodeArchive.cpp and then verify files to let it download it back? maybe it is corrupted...

EDIT:
you mentioned 4080, you dont have geforce experience on do you?
the game doesnt like that overlay.

I haven’t bothered but I found a few videos on YouTube addressing the issue

I had same issue, there is fix apparently.. download some 3rd party app and downclock fequency on cpu. dev told me via discord. Id say f that and uninstalled it.
Yep, I was eager to test out season 2, ended up uninstalling the game. Will try again next season or if this is ever get fixed.

So glad I did not spend any money.

Looks like borked CPU.

You might want to try this guide, someone shared this here before.

Thanks! This could be it but the software suggested does not let me change the value. They are grayed out. I think my Intel CPU is not supported for over and underclocking. And it says my performance core ratio is at 53, the recommend multiplier.

Any, thanks for the link
