Competitive matchmaking is ridiculous
I cannot go past bronze because I am repeatedly placed in teams where:
- they don't understand we need a tank
- they don't understand one healer might not be enough
- when I as a support usually make triple heal of other healer and match damage/beat damage of DPS
- where everyone ignores Ankhs and then Pikachu faces when 4 of them walk into their deaths or stands in tight corridors as Squirrel Girl just picks em up with no effort

Like, what the heck is happening there?
Why is it so difficult to get matched with people of your skill? I am not expecting miracles but AT LEAST someone of equal or slightly lower skill. Not a group that appears to not understand the very basics of how the game works.
I am quitting the game until they fix this ♥♥♥♥. What's the fun of progression system if you cannot progress at all?

People in gm and above can have negative wr, so I don't see how anyone can be stuck in bronze in this game. Btw there is clearly no skill based matchmaking in rivals, netease even documented their system, that only exist for player retention

If I were to wager a guess, I think what is happening is that people in gold/plat are basically thinking "It's bronze. It's gonna basically be like fighting bots. I don't have to try, this will be free." and basically half-ass their playing because "its just bronze" without realizing EVERYONE WHO WAS AT THEIR PREVIOUS RANK is now also in bronze, so yes. You actually DO need to play properly and use yoir brain even though it's bronze, because for the next week or so most of the people in bronze were gold/plat/GM like 2 days ago.

maybe it's that idk, I am not gonna even try climbing. I've been stuck at the bottom in ridic games where in almost every case I got SVP after and had far better results than others (maybe except like 1 person top, at best) - as a support. It's no fun. For one good game, I get 10 losses which are just blatant not-even-a-chance wrecking of our team. Literally other side is not even good but my team acts like they are eating glue.
Well. You have to accept most of the players are bad. If you really want to climb I would suggest getting a couple of friends to play with, or perhaps a full team. Competitive is Quickplay without bots and with unlockable skins. Ranks are meaningsless.

Mm, I tried :(
My friends don't want to play competitive because of equally bad experience when solo. Because of bad experiences they had few times, they don't wanna try as team later.
Eh...
Main issue is that everyone was brought down to Bronze basically. I don't see any reason why do you need that massive reset. 6 ranks would have been better, as it wouldn't have cluttered Bronze/Silver so much, and mess up entire system for week or two. Now you may get lucky and get actual diamond/platinum teammates, or bad luck and get true silver/bronzies instead, while opponent team has good luck team... I wish reset would have been only visual reset, instead of full ELO reset basically.
cause this game doesn't have skill based matchmaking, if you play solo then it is a casino

The game is on its way out anyways, tehres a reason everyone has quit in the last month. Aside from the rigged matchmaking, they knew it would be a flavor of the month game and nothing more and were pushing skin sales like madmen.

This is why role queue needs to be added and forced. You pick Vanguard and you can ONLY select vanguard characters. Should be 2/2/2 split every match, the MM in this game is what makes it miserable

Absolutely <3 Agreed 100%

The engagement based matchmaking as they have it now, will definitely kill the game in the long run. Even if its a slow, slow bleedout.

Everyone complains, and this matchmaking system then really rewards those who smurf.

I'm trying to 'gaslight' it back. The moment I get two losses in a row, I log off and am done for the day.

People can say whatever they want. However, if I am getting SVP loss after SVP loss as INVISIBLE WOMAN of all characters, I know that I am not the problem and it is my teammates/matchmaking. They use the same ♥♥♥♥ that Activision/Blizzard uses. I even have the Season 1 pass, and I think it is damn *near* pay-to-lose because they want you to show off your skins to new players to make themselves too want to purchase a pass and/or skins.

It sucks. I love the game itself and the heroes, the gameplay, the meta. However the match making, it is the thing dragging it all down. There's plenty of people like myself who are already dumping hours into this and will even put in thousands - but myself and those folk I have talked too will not return for Season 3 if this does not change.

Regardless, if you're trying to rise in comp - you better do it now before the muck starts to clog it up.

I been stuck in bronze now since the reset, when at the beginning of S1 I got out in 1 day. IDK WTF happened, but matches are 10x harder now & my team mates are imbeciles. IDK if I'll ever get out of bronze at this rate. I can't even get to Bronze I & keep getting dropped back to Bronze III with losing streaks against teams that go 25/0/25 & my team is like 2/10/0

And that's the whole damn point there SHOULD BE skill based match making.
Just got off a game where a DPS player rage quit constantly screaming for healing, while letting opposing DPS constantly harrass the backline.

By the end of the match I had 30k healing, and alot more kills than this guy (about 34 and 45 assists) who rage quit at the end calling us bots. While he spent his whole time running his mouth and managing to get less kills than me by a decent margin.

Then he has the nerve to call me a "big mouth" for pointing it out while hes running his stupid mouth the entire match. Got matched with this moron two games straight by the way.

queuing as strat is brutal in this game when people playing DPS don't get kills, and don't do their job. Bronze and silver is like the hardest ranks lol.

I don't think role queue is the answer btw, that creates it's own slew of problems.
Placement matches probably is, where the game evaluates your personal performance win or lose.

This is one of the many things that ruined Overwatch 2. Hard pass.

If it makes anyone feel better, once you've fought out of bronze, it does get *much* better... sadly, it's a slog and is completely random if you'll have a bad team or not.

For context, I've just got to silver 1 and I'm apparently higher ranked than 76.29% of players. Obviously a lot of people are finding themselves trapped. When I hit silver the first time, it was around 55%.
