55 GB update queued? Is this real?!
The game is only like 70 GB, this seems excessive right? Is anyone else seeing this update?

Yes it is. Everyone's is around 50GBs. Don't let anyone gaslight you into thinking differently. I checked my downloads and it was just that.

The reason for it is likely due to this being a big update and they launched an optimization option in the launcher to help those that were struggling with memory issues.

They made everyone redownload the game for S2 and yeah it was about 55gb "update"

Ahh it was a redownload so it was probably replacing the files then, not adding
