1/4 I would say. Even if your picked up a good hero for a team, but you can't play it well enough, then it does not matter.
Map, combos, what counters what, in general battlefield awareness is essential.
1/4 - team composition
1/4 - personal skills
1/4 - battlefield awareness
1/4 - pure luck (ultimate timing, final blow that eliminates team and unlocks objective, that headshot that lands perfectly across the map. You can't plan those :D)
You see it almost every match
Both of the big barrier tanks; rotate out barriers to let the other recharge. Mantis boosts damage of the DPSers and gives sustained heal-over-time to divers who might leave line-of-sight; Luna has generally good healing and damage with a passive mobility skill and a prolonged stun.
If you have one or no supports then you won't stand a chance. One support doesn't work well because optimally too many bodies to heal and no support to heal your own support meaning it's much easier to lose them.
Two Supports and Four DPS don't work well either because DPS and Supports are too squishy for burst damage roles, and once you lose a body you start losing space very fast.
Team perks play a role but it's good to notice what characters are good at. Adam for example is a very burst oriented healer. You don't keep people topped up, you burst heal an entire team when something nasty happens and you use your soul bond strategically to help keep people engaged in a fight. That burst healing means Adam pairs well with a more sustain oriented support, like Mantis or even Jeff.
Iron-Man works well as a softener, not likely to get picks but his vantage means he can damage very easily. Which makes him good at either confirming picks or softening targets for other DPS and so he pairs well with an offensive Vanguard. Venom in particular is a good idea since Venom draws attention very well.
I could go on and on, the meta picks will surface up as people discover what works and what doesn't.
