How to be better dps?
Hello, Could you give me some tips on playing dps? I feel like I'm doing something wrong all the time - when I'm standing behind with a ranged character, I can't kill the opposing dps or healer, and there's always someone who will attack me from behind. When I choose a medium range dps, I try to stick with my team but then I get killed by opposing dps. Even if I try to flank the opponents' dps or healer, I can never get a one-shot and the enemy team always comes to their aid. When I play a melee attacking character, I try to flank, but I never succeed. Do you have any tips on how to position yourself, what to do and what not to do when playing DPS? When playing as a tank and healer, I don't have this problem.

My advice, look up Overwatch guides. Its almost all transferable information. You play this game the same when it comes to positioning and what not.

Half of dps heroes are bad. I've been trying all of them. And for me punisher, starlord and iron fist are best. As Iron fist I try to camp enemy spawn to kill healers. And it works.

Punisher has insane damage, as person with bad aim I'm fine with him, byw shotgun is op

And star lord, he's an insane flanker, you have to shoot your enemies in the back

Honorable mention is loki, he can deal damage, and heal. Also insane ulti. But he only works with a dps who had atleast half of brain in team

Best answer right here. When watching the gameplay, I recommend "playing" in your head. Imagining you're the one playing, trying to react to the various situations that come up. Then see how what you would do in a situation vs what the good player does are different and how they're the same, and use that to improve

It differs per hero, but general rule is: flank enemies from rear angles and stab them in the back. It's all about getting angles to pincer attack your enemies.

If your talking about ranked this will only work at low levels of play. Coming off 8 years of competitive OW. I can tell you what works right now, absolutely will not in a few weeks.

As people learn the game, as casuals stop playing ranked youll have people that take the game more seriously, know how to counter, know how to peel for supports. Stuff like that. Right now the games still in the everyone is just having fun period, eventually people will figure out how to play and itll be much harder to play the solo style of running around for picks.

It happened in OW too. Genji was the dive character that terrorized people when the game first launched. then people learned to deal with him and he turned int a throw pick, hed dive and immediately get exploded. I see the same thing happening here. Same with the flyer picks like Iron man. Theyll only work at ranks where people dont have the mechanical skill to swap to punisher and headshot him out of the sky.

especially when they mention a very easily countered hero like Iron Fist but not the character that gets banned in diamond draft 100% of the time (Hela).

Play other roles to understand their limitations and position on a team. You become more familiar with characters kits even after just a match of playing as them once and it really helps you deathmatch someone playing that hero. Playing DPS in a game like this is not necessarily only about getting kills, if you can put pressure on healers or the tank so they get out of position you will open up an avenue to attack their teams DPS heros or even just set up a good dive on the healers. Your number 1 purpose as DPS is simply to put out damage; not exclusively to rake in kills; try to push their tank back and take ownership of the ground they were covering and if a healer is outhealing your damage try to micro-position in such a way that if they stop they will put themselves at risk and always fall back if you lose roughly half of your HP or maybe even 1/3rd. You might just get put in a bad situation yourself.

Pick moon knight, walk around the enemy team. Find a spot through a doorway where they have to look up to see you but will only see feet and place an Ankh near them but not in front of them. Attack said Ankh and score kills off goobers who are looking for an enemy that isn't there.

Yeah. The only DPS hero I would really consider bad is Logan and maybe Ororo. Iron Fist is easily countered. I eat Iron Fists for breakfast with Dagger or Mantis, and have about 50/50 chance with Jeff and Loki.
