Being a better Support Player (Rocket Raccoon)
How can I be a better support player within a team (solo queue mostly)? I know that I suck as a duellist and Vanguard, but I have the most fun being a team player.

Raccoon sucks at burst healing but hes good at consistent healing. If you make usage of his mobility, you can stay alive for longer, therefore you can provide said consistent healing longer. Simply put, heal alot, and KITE hard when you get dove and survive

Vision vision vision. Try to keep LoS on tanks as much as possible, let the team push forward try to keep someone in front of you at all times, dont be alone. Focus on surroundings watching and listening for backdives, the sound is really good in this game you should hear people approaching its quiet distinct. I'm a diamond loki main so i know that it can kinda feel different not running the meta healers luna/mantis. Know the weakness's of your kit and work around it. Dont force yourself to play at your weakness's take advantage of your strengths.

I'm also a Rocket main. one thing I have to mention is to never run into the front lines of a fight, stay to the side or gain some elevation over the enemy, also always deploy your B.R.B device within a 50 foot range of the fight.

One of the best things a support player can do is to not die. Through good positioning, good ability use and awareness. Overwatch skills transition to this game extremely well. Look up some general OW support positioning guides, that from what im seeing it will put you far beyond most players just to understand the role. Look up older 6v6 stuff though newer guides still work for the most part. as far as general stuff

Im checking out one right now to see if its relevant. Ill post it if it is.

Depends on whether you are being flanked constantly or not. If you are, you cant do much but escape and let your tank die. The onus isn't on you.

Oh yup! 100% this is transferable to use for MR strategist, for the most part.

You need to be able to kill duelists.

Do not go into this game expecting for peels or to never get dived.

If you want to play support in this game learn to kill DPS on your own.

Rocket is one of the poorer choices for this but you do have some advantages.

1. Armor Pack. Always wear your armor pack.
2. Mauga Gun is good. Use it to kill people. Learn to aim.
3. Use your dash to avoid getting ganked.
4. Throw healing orb and dash through it for self sustain.
5. Climb around and be hard to kill.

Right click and not die, those are really the only two things rocket is good at. Also, In your settings, enable the option that makes rocket follow your cursor when wall crawling. My boy ZOOMS across walls its not even funny

Ignore all other advice, use OW players, content creators, ex pro players as your guides. Weve been playing this game or a form of it for almost a decade.A ton of us are on MR now. Making YouTube content, all that good stuff. Just as a little bit of evidence. the higher you climb the more OW players you run into. Has to say something

The stuff you do in Overwatch in terms of general game sense carry over. However you still need to learn different heros properly and the maps. The map design of this game is different from Overwatch (easier actually) so it's not that hard.

However some Support Heroes you can play the "traditional" Overwatch Mercy way, some you play the Ana way, and some you can easily flank and attack with ala Moira. Jeff for instance can be played all three ways.

A lot of people don't understand this but Jeff is an assassin. I can't tell you how many squishies I've hunted down as Jeff. Cloak and Dagger are also good for hunting squishies down.
