I am a Support main and this game is not for me.
I am a gamer who does not prefer the "main character" fantasy. I don't like playing tanks and assassins. I get my satisfaction from playing in the back or middle of the team and helping the team. In my time playing, I mained Rocket, Adam, and Storm if I played DPS. In Overwatch, I mained Junkrat, Mercy, Zenyatta, and Illari. In league, I main support playing Yuumi, Janna, and Teemo. I also played a Shai in BDO, used healing staff in New World, and take any opportunity to play support characters. This game has supports, but in the way this game is designed, it is just not for me.

To Clarify:
This game feels built, "balanced," and fun for DPS players who want to zip around and play for kills. Objectives feel useless, games start and end so quickly, and there is no incentive for teamwork. As a casual support player, I end up getting perma-dived and camped in the backline with my whole team ignoring me which leaves me frustrated and not enjoying the game.

Now most people might just say: "We'll just get good" but this game doesnt make me want to get good. Im am an average casual player, my experience is one I have seen shared by other players with similar feelings from people who like playing tanks being shared with me as well. This is the standard experience for players like me who prefer the "support" fantasy over the main character fantasy. As it is, this game would have benefited more from being a sort of arena brawler with no roles and characters designed without teamwork in mind. I was a proponent for a separate queue for people that wanted a role queue but it was immediately barraged with many people for and against without proper arguements and youtubers debating a role-queue online are all only looking at it from a DPS perspective with arguements like "Instead of adding a role queue, they should make teamups that eliminate the need for tanks or supports" and this made me realize this game is just not for me and players like me. I enjoyed the idea of quicker paced games and teamups because I got bored of Overwatches stale "metas" but this game promoted the idea of a team game that it just isnt. At the end of the day, it's just a brawlers playground for DPS players. And thats not bad, thats just not what I am looking for. I will still revisit this game with friends when we have a full team, but those will be few and far between. Maybe they will make adjustments in the future, but I will not hold my breathe for it. To all those enjoying the game, this isn't a "hate thread" and I hope the game only gets better for you. To all those who are similar to me in playstyle, let this just be a warning about the true gameplay. Thanks to those that read this, i did have some fun in the ~11 hours I played this, but I will not be returning.

Edit: For those who don't want to read, this is a video of me saying essentially the same thing, though not word for word. https://youtu.be/kEK7R5A0GXQ

The mark of a true support is to weather the storm, endure it all for the sake of their allies.
But real talk, I feel you, its frustrating as hell, overwatch 2 went the same way really, too much focus on damage to the point it became miserable for supports often. Wouldn't be so bad if people had awareness but the majority simply have tunnel vision and forget a vital part of the team, leaving them behind to die under the constant battering of dps and tanks too, heck even other supports at times charge in and harass. And with so many characters flying and zooming about its an annoying experience to heal at times in general.

Just like overwatch its basically stomp or get stomped, you will be lucky and have a good team and a good game, you will get space to heal effectively without so much annoyance or you get the complete opposite and its hell as well as discouraging.

It's not. It is that simple. That's how the game is played at low level. Has nothing to do with the game itself, but with the people playing it. The behaviour you describe loses instantly to a coordinated team.

Either get yourself some friends to play with, and win those games for free, or suck up that you need to adjust your playstyle until you increase in rank and start getting into games with people who know what they're doing.

A 22 line paragraph with no line breaks is just going to make people's eyes glaze over or not read it at all. Just looking at it is exhausting.

That said, try Cloak and Dagger, Loki, and Luna. Rocket is mediocre on the healing and Adam is not always a great solo healer. C&D is a great healer all around, Loki is high skill ceiling healer but can be phenomenal when you start to get him down, and while Luna is not usually a great solo healer, she is an excellent back up healer.

Ya, I think the match that solidified it for me the most was actually my second ranked match. Our team setup was 1 tank, 4 dps, and me playing support. The enemy team had a spider-man who was spacifically targeting me to the point he would kill me as soon as I left spawn. I tried every support I could to try and avoid him as much as I could but it was to no avail. I would type in chat every few times I died
"Hey, theres a spiderman constantly in our backline"
"Hey, this spiderman is focusing me, I cant heal you guys"
"Hey can somebody counter this spiderman?"
"Hey, this spiderman is spawn camping me"
But everyone kept ignoring the spiderman because most of the team was focused on trying to dive the enemy backline. The only way I could get anyone to do something was by literally running the spiderman into a teammate, but even that didn't do much. Nobody played like a team, they just wanted to brawl and get kills. No one even went near objective (It was a "push the payload" map.)

I play casual, I am a casual player.

This game is damage focused unfortunately, all roles can deal damage quite effectively.

Depending on the healer, you can get flanked so easily cause this game doesn't really afford to stick together because sticking together isn't the best option because you got heroes that can just spam attacks such as ironman, scarlet doesn't need aim, punisher can spread his bullets...... then you got AOE ults such as dagger/cloak, spiderman, ironman, scarlet, magneto, jeff than can EASILY target 3+ people.

Ya, I think this game should have just been more of a brawler without roles because that's how people want to play it.

I agree, with any games like this, damage is always popular. Pick any game, damage dealers will and usually are top picks.

WoW, OW, mobas, maple story, throne and liberty, ragnarok online etc.....

It's just player habits, cause pew pew'ing doesn't have to rely on 'team work' per se, you can be damage and not really think about your team mates. But if you're a tank or healer, you require more focus - you need to watch out for your team mates while doing your role as a tank/healer. That's one factor when choosing a tank/healer cause it requires more thought process and gamers don't really like that

Thatès just a low MMR problem. You are playing with bad player that don't speak.

It's not balanced, and you're right... it's not that fun, particularly trying to rank up.

Thats the average casual experience. I am an average casual player. This doesn't make me want to "get good" at the game. This is the average experience with majority of matches because most people are "low MMR"

I completely turn games around by simply using text chat to communicate with people and have been as a support player for years. Just ask for help or say who the problematic character is for you, like "Iron fist keeps diving for me, can anyone help?"

I also tend to do things like huddle up closer to allies and say something like "they have people flanking so i think if we group up and focus them when they try it might turn the battle."

Use communication wisely though; bad judgement calls can hurt credibility.

The last game I played, I did this exact thing. There was an enemy spider-man essentially bullying me and I kept calling it out repeatedly to no avail. My team had 1 dive tank and 4 dive dps players and they just kept on with their solo play.

These games don’t really have a casual aspect. As time goes on players will get sweatier and sweatier even in the low ranks

I already see a lot of people moving their cameras about like they are meth addicts trying to keep up with enemies and the game. Makes no sense how people can play well while doing that.
