Nobody likes Marvel Rivals. (Reasons for it)
marvel rivals has a negative reception for the most part. that's right, those reviews seem to look as if the game is successful reception wise, but it actually isn't. the only people who have something good to say about rivals are the ones who are into comic books or are easy targets thirsty after a failure of overwatch 2, jumping into another hero shooter to brag about how much "better" it is than overwatch, even if the gameplay of the game is mediocre.

it shouldn't be about attempts to self-affirm about "how much better" it is than overwatch, as that only makes that consumer a more lucrative prey towards the studios. many people who are currently playing marvel rivals will leave anyway for other new games coming out because we all know that the hype and fear of missing out are prevalent in today's industry. those are the reasons people play the game for, but who actually likes it? no one really enjoyed the game because there isn't much to it, it's bloated, tries to do more than it can handle and the gameplay tries to overpower the player with the amount of content, rather than intuitive value and quality. lack of those things simply cannot hold players for long. how will the game keep itself within the attention for years to come when the developers clearly lack knowledge on how to appeal to both competitive and casual gamers?

"positive" reviews that we see are from vocal minority, those reviews simply lie for the reasons i described above and combined with what the game has to offer, those reviews don't seem to be convincing. most people didn't play marvel rivals and feel no need to talk about and don't really like the game. a large portion of users are avoiding marvel rivals without even trying it because they see right at the first glance that it's not worth it and it is simply a hive for youtubers to make revenue and "content" off of, easy target audience that buys into marvel merchandise, movies and anything "marvel" related even if everything coming out is subpar and generic and finally, hero shooter fans feeling down after overwatch, ones who are desperate for a hero shooter that they can point on and call "better", but they are missing the bigger picture that they are just being exploited by the studio for that very reason. everyone pretty much knows that it's just a marketing scheme to push new movies of theirs, so no one really considers to spend too much time on games like these nowadays. by looking at how many games like these flopped, we can see that combined with the problems the game has and lack of originality, the substantial loss of players and fading hype is on the horizon.

I agree extremely, mainly cause it seems like the devs didnt care about what killed OW2 and neglected balancing characters before the release.

hero shooters always have a hard time in terms of balancing. it is not easy to balance all ups and downs of each character, especially when there are so many of them, like in marvel rivals.

If Overwatch came out after, I'd definitely say that yeah haha. Overwatch has no history so it'd be tough to compete with a comic book company going back to the 60s.

so why is it that marvel rivals developers don't actually do anything meaningful with the game? it will get old and die out if they don't take care of it. but taking care of it can also be detrimental in the long run.

Because the game just came out? They just announced a holiday event with a useless skin for a character I don't want to play and some paid skins. Pretty sure this is the data collection phase before things get changed up, its the preseason, where were you people when diablo 4 was flopping around left and right.

Ok I'll bite.

It's utterly stupid to think that nobody likes a Marvel game that's actually decently solid and hilariously enjoyable.

The only thing i dislike about the game is not having Role Q in Comp. ill prob just play the game occasionally in quick play but not go beyond that.

Role Q is what ruined overwatch.
This game is better in almost every way.

that's untrue. overwatch will live longer than marvel rivals due to a more simple nature, while marvel rivals is convoluted, bloated and gets old to people. it won't have as much of an impact and replayability in the long run and it is important to think in the advance.

Saying that "nobody" liked the game when it hit 10 million in the first week is some nuclear level cope

marvel is notorious for producing low quality products with a sole aim to push more of their products and make them as popular as possible. they are essentially using their long established reputation many decades ago to "ride" on it. so it's no wonders people have questions about quality of either marvel rivals or you name it, any marvel title.

Well see what happens in a few months once the honey moon phase wears off. I think the game is genuinely fun to play despite its few hiccups. (What modern game doesn't have at least some of those at launch right?)

But the more I play the game, the more I'm not sure if its something I would actually invest serious time into, at least beyond a casual level anyways. But that's okay, it still has plenty of room to change into something more, hopefully for the better.

Although I do agree that a good percentage of those reviews are just there because it's anti-overwatch 2.

It's a free game. There are not 10 million people playing it and there never has been. What is your definition of "hit 10 million," what does this even mean?

10 million what was sold, exactly?

He's not talking about sales or concurrent player numbers. (concurrent = the same amount of players on at the same time)

He's saying the game has had 10 million unique visitors in less than 3 days which is respectable. Now it's hit 20 million though.

So free accounts made, with no barrier of verification whatsoever.

Stellar.

My comment got deleted for some reason.

He's not talking about sales or concurrent player numbers. (concurrent = the amount of players on at the same time)

He's just saying that the game has had 10 million unique visitors in less than 3 days, which is respectable. But now it has hit 20 million with no signs of slowing down.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

But I do agree that his " Big player population and buzz = the game must be good " argument is dumb though.

And so what if there wasn't a " tough barrier " for verification? Your steam/PSN/XBL account should be enough right? And yes, the game is free to play we understand that.

EDIT: And by the way, it's not " downloads " it's UNIQUE visitors. Meaning that people actually booted up the game and played it in some capacity after creating a name. They didn't just download it and have it sitting in their libraries.

game won’t make it a year, and lose more than half its player count in 6 months
How realistic, guess what, as the time passes, new games come out and each of them are all promising enough for us to escape the real world. This game is holding up pretty good and will hold up pretty good but we will obviously move on. Stating this yappery is dumb because it's not even an attack towards the game, hell, if I knew my team and I developed a game that had over 20 million players the first 1 week and a half I'd be satisfied right there, BUT GUESS WHAT, everyday there's more people playing this, meaning that the number is still growing higher until at some point it stops. That's how you know a game is successful. And unfortunately for you, this game is exactly that, successful. It's addicting, it got you what was promised, and it satisfied a client.

why are you starting a discussion on a game that you dont even own let alone play? especially a free one, are you really that desperate for any form of human connection? be that as it may, as hard as you are trying to be one hell of a clown, anyone in their right mind would just ignore you, what a waste (ai among other things)
He's over doing the same thing in the Lethal Company discussions and some other ones. It's just to farm awards, nothing else.

The only people that i can think of that made multiple accounts are the ones that don't own a console and played through epic launcher for the Fortnite free items and then went to steam, i should know because i did that :steammocking: , and i HIGHLY doubt that people made multiple accounts just to boost the numbers just for the funsies, and accounts that barely played any games during the first launch hours that are no longer playing today count as active players
