Role limits per match what do you think?
i recently played in a match that was 6 support characters and it was incredibly one sided, i wouldnt say we had a great team or that i am an exceptionally skilled player but this had to be one of the most unfair matches ive played yet. so what do you think about locking the roles to a specific amount per team

my idea is that they limit hela to 0 instances per match.

Bad idea.

Limiting number of players in a role would just mean that whoever loads first gets to play whatever they want, and whoever loads last is stuck with role nobody else wants to play. And loading time is determined by the money you spent on CPU/GPU.

So in effect, you'd just be making the game Pay-to-Play. People who spend the most $$$ on hardware get to play whatever they want, poorer people are always forced to play tank/healer.

Nah. We don't know the optimal meta yet for the game to even enforce limits. 2/2/2 is just stupid Overwatch bait. The real meta is 3 vanguards 3 strategists right now. Even you're saying 6 strategests was something. I've even heard of people running 1 vanguard, 2 duelists, and 3 strategists.

Let people play what they want or the meta will become stale like it did in Overwatch. Once you start limiting roles, people end up forced to use certain characters only because those ones work within the confinement of the role distribution.

I've begun to get matches where consistently it's 1-2-3, seems to be the way the games meta is slowly sliding. Which as a Strategist main, I dont mind as long as there is at least one tank

Not for nothing, that's just "everyone gets a pocket healer"
A good DPS stack could wreck that; keyword being good.

Plus, the current system allows people to swap midgame. If you don't need a Vanguard right now and want to counter Iron Man, you can switch from one role to a completely different role without "Lulz Role Queue locks" interfering. Different game modes also encourage different playstyles. Maybe someone wants more Vanguards on the team for a payload mission because staying on the point is important. Or maybe the map has exits and Jeff really wants to contribute kill counts.

And... why would we want to prevent cheese stacking? If 6 of one class can beat you, then that's the best team comp.

lol, well that's a good point. Only by allowing it can people figure out how to counter it. There could be some situations in which a team could 6 in as a shock tactic. How about a limit of 6 per class?

Thats a big leap. But also its already the unspoken rule.

And ensuring a max of 3 dps would remove all instances of the dreaded 4 dps teams.

Yep, should be 2 of every role. Easily fixed with role queue.

Oh. Character Select Screen is Tank - DPS - Healer so that's why i thought you meant everyone gets a pocket healer.

I was kinda liking the idea too :zaglol:
(I also had a match like it earlier in QP and it went great)

But yea, the thing is it really depends on the Tank and healers. Hulk is ROUGH as a solo tank. And If Adam and Luna are your healers, some people will die.
This kinda highlights the fact that forcing any one comp, be it 2/2/2 or 1/3/2. makes some characters and combos just not viable.
