I have seen Chinese OW ripoffs that were more creative than this.

I hate Blizzard, boycotted OW and am a big Marvel fan, so I would have been your perfect demographic, but all you did was copy OW and just swap out the skins for Marvel hero skins with extremely cheap graphics and animations.

Who is this supposed to be for?
The people who grew up with superhero knockoff action figures?

OK so you are saying Star-Lord's kit is not Tracer's basic attacks with Reaper's AoE attack and Soldier's ultimate? Same animations, same visuals, mechanics.


Marvel heroes got SO MANY cool abilities and powers, there are decades of comic books, cartoons and movies to pull from.
But instead they just copied Overwatch abilities?

Im with OP. I was hoping for something fresh in the genre, not just a modded version of OW.

There is a little hope this could be changed with the right feedback from testers, but by reading the forums looks like people is ok with this...

I got into the Alpha, played through all the heroes and realized right away that they put the Overwatch abilities in a blender and pulled out a few at a time to create heroes. I'm not going to waste time saying which heroes feel like rebrands from Overwatch. I will only say there is a single hero that seems like they did it right. Spiderman. His skillset is exactly what I wanted to see for all the others, and it felt original. The downside to him is that his punches hit like a marshmallow.

Let alone that the map design is lazy at times, one of the levels looks like a downright ripoff of Hanamura at the end.

All in all, this game is a prettier Overwatch clone. The gameplay, design, characters, and flow feel way too familiar to even call this a different game. I don't understand why it isn't more obvious to other people.

stopped playing overwatch because it wasn't fun at lest this is

People are ok with it because it’s in closed alpha. Game won’t be released until next year. It’s 3rd person 6v6, OW is first person 5v5 game. This game actually plays more like Smite than OW, I have no idea why ppl keep mentioning OW. If you guys like OW so much, go play OW. Just watch the Necros Spiderman video and compare that to OW, unless you are completely blind, anyone can see the playstyle is totally different.

And you guys can stop wasting time hating on the game. It’s number 23 most wishlisted, for an alpha game. By comparison, Smite 2 (with lots of fans and releasing very soon) is only number 55 most wishlisted. There will be many people playing this game on release, so whether you like the game or not doesn’t matter one bit.

Ripoff isn't exactly accurate, I mean, Rivals was originally in development with Blizzards help as a mobile version of Overwatch.

Rivals absolutely needs a new art direction though. The maps, UI, sounds, voices, and effects are all still from when this game was Overwatch Mobile. The serial numbers have been filed off and the characters replaced with Marvel characters, but that is it.

Its full release is still like a year away, so I hope in that time everything is replaced and this has more of an identity.
