It depends on how you yourself were playing position and timing wise mostly.
While doing good solo is good, this is also a team game.

That said, most of the time people cry during matches because they don't want to admit that they themselves are the problem.
I've had matches as Squirrel Girl where I would have most damage, final hits, and least deaths but teammates still cry wanting me off the character just because they don't like having that character on their team.

Without really knowing details, one thing they might be complaining about would be if you get all that damage because you're just laying into a tank, that is being healed... instead of focusing the healer to allow that tank to actually be killed.

I agree that a lot of people are toxic though.
Shuyin is right about people not wanting to own up their own shortcomings, preferring to blame everyone but themselves for any poor performance.
honestly, everyone has their own idea of how the score board should look to determine if someone is doing good or not mid match.

the reality, your team could have all the kills, fewer overall deaths, that one guy with 50+ assists, and your opponents are still somehow reaching their victory condition with half the kills, more deaths, etc. seen it happen, the scoreboard is a meaningless metric.

unless your 3 - 15 then you are just bad and need to change up your play style.
Were you playing with the team? Were your picks meaningful? We had a cap who played away from the team the whole time and picked off random people who were walking back to the objective, but never helped any plays or pushed objective. He got SVP with most kills, but he was by no means "good" or helpful to the team.

I stay with the team mostly

I had 62k damage and went positive while sticking with the team and helping as much as possible.

I mean, him picking off enemies trying to return to objective isn't a bad thing though, it gives your team number advantages to help push and keep the objective.
Of course I must ask if they were the only tank on the team though, if he was then yeah that's a problem. But if he's not and is getting results off the enemy team's spawns it's mostly fine.
There are games like those, I was 13-2 moon knight while the rest of my team was below 5 with tons of deaths.
Yet they still flamed me, saying I was bad, that I was always hidden and running away that's why I had the least deaths, so other guy immediately picks moon knight in the next round and the others insta lock DPS leaving me solo with healer, I pick sue storm, and I still managed to get 10 more kills than my team (in total 18 finisher kill) and 10k heals despite me being the only healer in the team, and of course we didn't get out of the starting point and I got blamed because I was getting kills instead of healings lol.

Depends.
Did you do 40k damage and kill 35+ and 15+ final hits or did you do 40k damage and kill 10 and have 4 final hits?

Can't tell anything from just your damage but if I had to guess you're wasting it all on the enemy tanks and not killing anyone, just giving the enemy healers ult charge for free.

Having low kills and last hits isn't always a problem, though. If you're a flanker and you're harassing the back line, distracting the healers from their job, then you might not be getting a lot of kills but you're still doing your job.

Also if you're dying all the time that's bad too. Keeping yourself alive is your responsibility, the healers can't do it all for you. Use cover, stay where the healers can see you or go find a health pack.
