Dead by Daylight is, a repetitive and kinda stale game but the new killers are what draw most back in. The brand names of having all the horror icons is really powerful.
That being said, it is also that but the fact all the characters feel so engaging to play that keeps me coming back to Rivals. Often in games like this I find one or two characters and what is about all I invest myself in....with Rivals I have like 3 mains for each role and a few others I enjoy playing from time to time; It keeps it very fresh for me.
There are some things Rivals needs to improve on (matchmaking and the stupid mandatory bots for one), but on a whole I can't even really complain about how they monetise it even-- I was surprised given it's from China/Netease, I expected it to be awful but they handle the monetisation and community feedback than like....most US publishers even these days.
Hell, they even tell you when you reports have done anything and what was done, they don't screw around about it making you feel like nothing is being done. They don't punish toxic chat as much as they probably could but otherwise they are on top of it.
There is a lot being done well here.
