For Groot you need 1 dedicated DPS that will target him, because if everyone just ignore walls and let Groot play on his terms, you will be killed even through support ults, because Groot has a ridiculous amount of damage with a proper setup.
Wolverine is a "one size fit all" solution for tanks. Jump in, steal a tank, kill a tank.
Moon Knight is a very good Groot pick, because he can land easy hits on him, deal damage to enemy team and farm ults, but he also has a decent DPS to break Groot walls.
Punisher is classic - aim forward and shoot through every wall and target.
Squirrel Girls is also good for same reasons, but can snare and her Ult bounces a lot between Groot walls.
Star Lord has one of the highest DPS in the game and you can't really miss a wall, but it's a bit of a value loss, because you are not flanking.
Rocket Racoon also a great pick, since he got more DPS than punisher and has a bunch of Utility and if you get close enough, you can also damage Groot himself.
Basically anything with high DPS will break Groot walls and without walls, he got no tricks. This constant pressure will make him back off and give ground, unless they are running 2 front tanks, but that just makes their backline vulnurable.
Then you will never kill Groot and lose 80% of times against him.
