One of the best videos I've seen on how to get better at the game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB6iVfpPN3I

I basically had to plug this here after watching it, pretty much everything in this video is stuff I see all the time. If you have basically any question about "why do I lose?" it's probably in here. You can kinda skim as the explanations for each of the points are somewhat longwinded so you probably only need to watch a minute or so for each one, but basically everything here is vital to getting better.

Hard to care about getting better when EOMM pulls the rug from under you regardless.

so true unfortunately there is literally only so much players can do for the game until the system triggers your loss

Sounds like what someone who didn't watch the video would say.

I doubt anyone could really watch this and not think "oh yeah I see people do that all the time".

Getting better at these things will certainly help you win close matches, and even if you could win an extra 5-10% of games that's still a huge improvement to your overall W/L that will result in climbing quite a bit.

Rivals players own up to their losses challenge:
More cope and yapping, lol

Everything sounds like cope until you start understanding the game.

The key to getting better is to understand why you lost. Most games in Rivals are won or lost based on a handful of critical moments. A key pick onto a strategist that snowballs a fight. A shutdown on a key enemy ultimate. An ultimate on one side that gets a ton of value. Once you realize the impact these critical moments have you realize that you actually have far more agency in your games than you might have thought.

hahaha, blames eomm, but calls trying to get better "cope" :conwayfacepalm:

I'm not sure trolling gets more obvious. They've been doing this for years across various game discussions.

Yeah, I'm sure if you get better at playing at the casino the house will stop ripping you off eventually.

More cope. lol
If you get good at the casino they ban you actually

Yeah, this game is totally like playing a casino game, except that it has no random elements whatsoever. It's just like Blackjack if you could choose your own cards every time.

The reality is that in every game, the team that plays better will win. No matter what group of 6 players the game gathers together for a team, the system cannot make them lose. Only the players themselves can do that by playing poorly. Of course, your teammates can play badly, but there are a bunch of things you can try to do to get them to play better. Try to pick characters that synergize with them, use support abilities to try to assist them during key plays, communicate about when you're going to do certain things so they can coordinate with you, etc.

And even without worrying about your teammates, there's almost certainly a lot you can still do to reduce the number of mistakes you make and thus your own chances of playing poorly, which lets you climb to the ranks where your teammates are likely to be doing these same things.
