Bizzare issue running Rivals on Laptop

Hi there.
I wanted to through this out here to see if anyone else had has this same issue or its just me. I play rivals on a HP laptop, when I play rivals with just the laptop is open by itself, the game runs fine (not counting anything to do with the janky servers). But when I connect my laptop to any monitor, the game experiences these will occasionally experience these horrific framedrops where it will run at around 10-20 FPS, sometimes even dipping as low as single digits for seconds at a time.

I've never had this issue with any other game I've played, and I want to know if anyone else is having a similar issue, much less if anyone has found a solution.

is the game using the IGPU on your external monitor?

Play with power plugged in, it might help.
