FAR Too Many Strategists Play As Duelists and Put Healing On Low Priority If At All

I'm seeing this CONSTANTLY. It's driving me insane. I'm right infront of them on low health and they're doing damage instead. I press the "need healing" button and they ignore me to hold right click on Jeff and play frontline and then die. They never look to their left or right, mostly ignore their team and just focus on damage.
I can't even say anything to them about it or I'll 100% be reported and banned if I do it enough times because that's how games like this work.

So not only does almost nobody want to play Strategist, but the people that do just play them like Duelists and focus on doing damage above all.

I'm getting so tired of this. It makes it suck to play Strategist myself because the other one is going to be mostly doing damage and I'll have to keep the team up by myself.

Far too many Duelists Instalock Duelists and think that whole team have to play like they desire. Without looking back on support who gets dived by Cap, Panther, Iron fist, Psylock, Spider Man and so on. Anyone could snap because of that, this is the most boring and frustrating role

Strategist damage in this game is nuts.... Luna, Jeff, can literally 2 3 shots squishies..

tell me about it i stand in front of them spamming need heals with a big glowing red symbol on me & still receive 0 heals like LOOOOOL.

They must have broken keyboard or there fingers are incapable of pressing the button because the stupidity of it is real.

Maybe your healer is out of juice? If the team is getting really pounded and I don't have anyone to shoot to get more heals, I can run out of them as Mantis.

Yep. Everyone does so much damage that if you stop holding mouse 1 for more than a few seconds, your entire team gets destroyed. There is very little time to use other elements of your kit unless you are steamrolling the enemy team.

Foundationally Hero shooters cannot help but instill this kind of gameplay. Players try to play these games like it's a run of the mill FPS but these are practically just MOBA's with some shooting mechanics and it attracts the shooter audience. Team Fortress 2 for example avoids a lot of these pitfalls these games fall into because it predates them and understood it needed to exist on it's own merit rather than copy an established marketable formula. Because of the brand and genre that the game is defined by you will get players that just want to go in and hit buttons as the pretty character, i'm sorry. It's not necessarily a bad thing, you might have fun enabling them as a healer yourself, some of the most fun i've had in this game is loading all my heals into a groot or thor that's just going to walk at the enemy team and dump all their abilities at once before walking back.

I've been having fun playing as Adam Warlock. My issue is the opposite of yours, people going far ahead of the main team and spamming for me to heal them when they aren't near me or anyone else. If you go right at the spawn points while everyone else is on objective, I dunno what more I can do for you. Outside of this happening a few times, me and others who play as Adam or Rocket seem to do pretty well from what I've encountered.

So is "Strategist" just a fancy way of saying "Support"?
Because I get you gotta do something so as to prevent everyone from just calling you an Overwatch Clone, but when the class roles don't tell you anything about what the characters actually play like you've got a problem.

I'm still trying to pick up the game and I don't know who's supposed to be a healer or what, and the character selector does not assist very much in helping figure that out.

As a side note, I've mostly been playing as Jeff and trying my best to heal people, and my experience of this has been a bunch of tanks running into the fray and around corners where I can't get to them without putting myself in the kill-zone and dying immediately.

strategist is support yes. Same type of play styles. Heal damage utility, I'm maining Cloak & Dagger because I really like the kit design. Mid damage numbers, can spam heals from very far away, great utility and an escape when being dove.

Also Jeff is a big target in this game because his ULT is annoying so people try and focus him down fast. Luna Snow, Mantis, Cloak & Dagger seem to be the strongest right now.
