Rank reset is WAY too intense

EDIT: I was under the wrong impression that a division meant an entire rank (IE Gold to Silver). Please disregard the below summary, I am not sure if the rank reset is too much given it's only divisions not full ranks.

Patch notes state that you will de-rank by 4 divisions at mid season, so, bare minimum, everyone who is Diamond or below is resetting to Bronze 6 weeks into the season. Each season is resetting 6 divisions, so everyone ranked Eternity is getting reset to Bronze. That, to me, seems insanely high, especially for those who have lives outside of Rivals. I hope they don't seriously go through with such an insanely large reset.

It's going to completely destroy competitive. What it means is that the low ranks will be packed full of players at all skill levels, so matches there are going to be completely unbalanced and miserable.

I mean it's pretty bad even now. I spent a little bit climbing out of Bronze yesterday and I saw players that were incredibly strong, probably GM level judging by what I see in QP. How the hell are low ranked people supposed to enjoy the game when there's going to be random diamond/GM players in their rank?

Comp is going to end up almost like a no-SBMM mode because there's going to be so many decayed high ranked players in low ranks (one reset doesn't do it, but what if someone doesn't come back for six months?). It's going to make QP the actual more balanced mode with better matchmaking.

The argument isnt if people can climb there, ofc if you can do it once/twice you can do it again, its simply unrewarding and a waste of time getting deranked every 6 weeks. Its just a cheap way to get people to play more but over the long run it will burn out more people than keep them playing.

Can we get it right? It's 6 divisions. And getting to gold 3 Takes like 15 matches. If you're averagely skilled from bronze. That's not much of an investment. You can't expect to play a competitive game once a year and be competitive. Casual mode exists, casual games exist. Complaining that competitive games enforces competition is brainrot.

Going forward, players can expect to kick off the start of each new Season with a drop of six divisions and the start of the second half of each new Season with a drop of four divisions.

I'm positive they are improving their Ai EOMM system, and are pushing peoples ranks down to better match their updated EOMM with their player base. I was already skeptical/suspicious of the first time they reset ranks, now I'm positive that's what they are doing.

Their statement/reasoning for lowering the ranks doesn't make sense either. "We've concluded that the first half of season 1 is an indicator of players competitive skills"... sounds like they're just watching AI data, and don't consider players improving their individual skills it doesn't make sense as a reason to reset ranks.

If people don't keep speaking up and making a fuss about their patented EOMM mess, they are going to triple down and destroy competitive and this game entirely by manipulating individual players results as a "carrot on the stick". Diamond 1 as SOLO currently, it's a cheesy racket that's demotivating me to keep playing.

Your rank doesn't matter in the first place, so why would it matter if you're getting deranked every 6 weeks

I'm up for rank reset ! Boosted players going down ! I'm not seeing any problem and to get back my rank it's just few hours of playing
