Why on god's green earth do we need a mid-season rank reset?

Saw the dev talk. 6-div drop every season is fine it's whatever, but why the hell do we have to all drop 4 divisions MID season? Literally give one single reason why this is needed? The only mode worth playing in this game is ranked cause QP has bots and forced crossplay on PC, and now it's kinda pointless to grind ranked at least for the first half of a whole season

Grandmaster in Rivals in 200 games played
Who cares what rank your at. They are all easy. Even GM games are a joke skill wise.
Many people that are GM in Overwatch have already raised multi rival accounts from bronze to celestial like it's a challenge or something for views. Flex it like it an accomplishment or something.
Personally I'd love a rank reset just to get out of Diamond without hard throwing to avoid the annoying bans in my future games. Wolverine/Storm/Banner every game not playable is boring.

Dumb take. They clearly want this game to be competitive, even has a whole separate tab in the menu for tournaments. Their development and balancing decisions will be centered around making this an e-sports it's not even subtle. It's in no shape to be an e-sport NOW, but it's clearly built from the ground up to be one

Of course it's easy to climb in Rivals game just came out people still figuring stuff out and those with hero shooter experience will always climb faster, whereas in OW the rank skill levels are already set. I got to Diamond last season without really thinking too much about it. It's like getting to Immortal in Valorant when it was released is extremely different from getting to Immortal now, especially if you already had tact shooter experience. Doesn't change the fact that in the long run, this is a questionable decision from the devs.

I think the resets are dumb idea in competitive full stop tbh, don't get me started on mid-season patches it's just more circus in clown world I guess.

lol thats why they use EOMM and put bots on quickplay. They dont give s*** about this competitive. They just want money, and some competitive apes pay for it they want to sell it

Why bother with rank reset mid season? Even league wasn't scummy enough to do mid season rank change unless that has changed

Since many players here simply don't understand if you don't play ranked you can't get good experience even in unranked or good enough game to enjoy

The season 1 reset made the ranked a circus, a lot of people mixed in ranks that they don't belong in and unbalanced games. I'm honestly going to uninstall this game after another reset (I'm a GM)
