Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals

Vezi statistici:
The game is CRASHING THE ENTIRE PC - and it is DESTROYING COMPUTERS
I just launched Marvel Rivals, had it in the background for a little bit while in menu, then tabbed back in the game, as I was about to queue to a game the screen just went black and the PC restarted, this happened a while ago, should be around Season 1 launch and I didn't think much of it. Except it happened again today and I decided to make some research on it.

This is NOT normal behavior. Computers do not crash without a BSOD or Kernel Panic unless something is very wrong, (eg overheating) except my temperatures were normal (all below 70). The game could be causing potentially catastrophic damage to hardware, like what happened with New World at launch.

Developers need to immediately let players know about this issue and fix it before more people get their hardware destroyed.

Edit - additional information for people thinking "you just got a bad/failing pc":
- Crash is not caused by hardware strain, because it happens on main menu with Vsync force enabled there
- My PC never bluescreened nor crashed ever before this incident
- I play other games too, such as The Finals and Counter Strike 2, neither of them cause an entire system shutdown like Marvel Rivals
- My GPU and chipset drivers and BIOS are up to date
- My power supply is more than capable enough to power a R7 5700X3D and a RX 6600 as it's a recent 650W 80+ model, and again (and also has all the protection features you'd need on a PSU) , the PC has never crashed before performing even more intensive tasks
- My motherboard VRMs are also capable to power the CPU during high load, as it's a high end MSI B550-A Pro that can even power a R9 5950X without breaking a sweat.

- There are other people with high end systems who are experiencing the same issue, I've heard from people who had their laptop motherboard fried, desktop power supply destroyed and one instance where a GPU was destroyed. This ain't about having a bad PC.

Update: I had to buy a new power supply, not playing the game until developers release a fix, even then I don't think i'll risk it

if it is happening with other games you might have a driver problem, the issue im talking about here is a catastrophic shutdown caused by Marvel Rivals specifically, only debug log you can find about it is a Kernel Power 41 log in event viewer.

No, read the post. Then read it again, maybe read it again right after.
You can cope, im fine
it's irrelevant but my PC probably outspecs yours, even if not, it's irrelevant. Learn to read. I'm not going to reward your ignorance with a jester award as you'd hope though.

it doesn't mean it will not crash in the future. Like I said there's other people with even higher end specs experiencing this problem to an even higher degree, their stuff blew up, at least mine didn't. But it's still something to be fixed. Why would you want to ignore it? Do you think Amazon should've ignored RTX 3080s getting blown up by New World?

Should have went intel
Hi.
kernel power 41, your power supply is dying, get a stronger NEWER power supply. This is what i found on reddit, and even reading past this initial post, he claims it still solved the problem.

Kernel power 41! This is the first time I’ve seen someone have the same issue in the event viewer. I commented on this thread a bit ago and since I’ve replaced my water cooler that was dying with a new air cooler, dusted out and thermal pasted everything and played the game fine for the last 3 days - genuinely thought it was on my side and was fixed - until last night my computer shut off mid ranked game! My temps were mostly fine albeit my GPU was at 70c. I’m genuinely concerned for my PC at this point if it’s wearing down all my hardware.

EDIT 14/01/25: I saw an upvote on this so thought I should update that I found the solution - my PSU was giving up apparently! It was a Kolink 1000W 80 Plus Bronze. Swapped to a new TUF Gaming 1000W Gold PSU and playing fine. My CPU is still causing blue screens, may be due to my AIO pump giving out and damaging it or the game but so far the answer seems it was hardware-related instead of problems caused by Marvel Rivals for me.

Except that wasn't their fault, it was the hardware. Gosh, this has been known about for years.

Hey look at that, it is your computer...who would have thought?

New World did indeed have faulty code that caused too much power draw, sure the GPU's got destroyed by them not being able to remedy the excessive power but it doesn't mean the game didn't have bad code in it. And considering they had to fix it means the game DID indeed have a problem.

Same goes for Marvel Rivals. the game has a problem that needs fixing. Also, my power supply is not dying, it is barely a few years old and it has never worked at above 40% capacity anyway as my total system power is about 300W at peak.

i'd be happy to have an excuse to upgrade my PC, unfortunately this is not one of them, because no, my computer ain't the problem.

. . . :steamfacepalm:

My guy... the hardware's own manufacturer, EVGA, confirmed the error was theirs and due to shoddy manufacturing. Amazon even released a statement addressing all of this years ago, which you apparently missed. Do you believe you know more about the state of the cards than the people who MADE them?

I swear, the internet has all types, and they never want to be wrong.

Postat inițial de Amazon:
"In the last few days, we have received few reports from players who have had problems with their GeForce RTX cards. After extensive investigation, we were unable to identify any unusual behavior on the part of New World that could be the cause of these problems. EVGA has already confirmed errors in the production of some GeForce RTX cards. New World can be played safely. For players who have encountered a hardware failure, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer."

did you even read my reply? I swear, people don't know how to read. where in my reply did I say the cards weren't faulty?
