Tanking needs to be 'spread around' somehow.
Let's face it - tanking is an unwanted chore.

But the problem is, now it always gets left to the teamwork-minded people that want to avoid getting stomped into the dirt. If you're a selfish prick, you can leave your teammates with the chore all the time and never do it. Meanwhile, if you're helpful, you get nothing except loads of rounds as tank, not getting to have any fun even if you win.

There needs to be a way to spread this obligation around. Everyone should have to tank some of the time, even if they don't want to. Because, NOBODY wants to, people just do it. It's like the dishes in a shared house - if you are willing to live in a pile of your own filth, you can just avoid doing them until someone else does, right up until you get thrown out of the house.

We need some mechanism to throw the instalock DPS who never do the dishes out of the house until they suffer like everyone else.

That's awesome, but there's like, three of you guys and like a billion instalock DPS.

Also, attitude helps. I hate tanking because I never get to choose it, it's just a stupid chore that's thrust upon me. I didn't hate it in OW once role queue went in because i was guaranteed proper support and I only did it if I wanted to. As it is, I get to play about 2/3 support and 1/3 tank, never DPS because instalockers take those roles and will happily throw the match before they leave it (and if you get in first they'll just go DPS ANYWAY, which shouldn't even be permitted once there's 3.)

I feel like the tanks in this game are pretty varied and fun though, your bound to find a playstyle you really like since you got dive tanks, control tanks and more frontline tanks

Yeah but it doesn't matter. I want to play the other two roles! Or, you know, choose what I want to play, not be forced to solo tank on magneto AGAIN.

It's almost impossible for me to DPS without meaning the team goes without a tank.

tanking is fine it's just going tank 5 times in a row really makes it feel stale

In ranked there is always at least 1 tank in a team, never seen an issue.
In QP who cares really?
they should make tank versions of other heroes. Like, Ironman but in the Hulkbuster. Or moonknight but its one of his other personas. OR Squirrel Girl but her abilities involve her "unbeatable" skills. OR Deadpool but with 350HP and his healing factor is on all the time and when he dies his body just lays there where he died, never seeing the respawn room until his HP fully heals then he stand right back up.

The other team, which will have two tanks 150% of the time.

Not always the case, there are plenty of people playing tanks in ranked, well at least above gold.

Sorry, I meant that the other team will play tanks even if you don't in QP and you'll just get wrecked.

Just had to fill tank AGAIN too.

It is pointless to talk about QP. People do whatever they want there because you don't win or lose anything. You can play the same way as well. If nobody cares, why should you?
I feel your pain and sometimes (after I've filled tank.support role for 10 games or so in a row) I just do what the others do and lock in DPS. Especially if it's quick play. And if any of the other 5 DPS even dare to complain then I pose the following suggestion in chat: "first person to die 1 (or 2 or 3) time changes to tank". Surprisingly, this often works because it encourages a little competition between all the stubborn fools.

Like the dreaded role que? i know people hate it but all this happened already in overwatch. You cant all be genjis
My Peni is my DD TANKER.
I do the damage and take the damage.
I take a lot more damage that I get heals though.
Rarely do I play tank properly because as soon as the healer gets HDD and wanders off, I insta die because I have taken up an offensive position to both tank and thin their numbers.
Usually I just play my tarantula style tanking unless I trust the healer.

Most healers want to heal the DD that have no concept of how a tank is supposed to take the damage and get the majority of the heals.
Instead they push too hard, take the healer with them, die and take the healer with them.
Then the other team pushes and the rest of us being 6vs4 with no healer then dies.
By the time make it back to the front, the idiot DD and idiot healer have already suicided.

Then after a few mins of this, I rage quit, because they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unworthy of my time.

Role queue improved the hell out of Overwatch. It also made me mix up what I played a lot - as a tank I was guaranteed two tanks as a healer, and since I wasn't coerced into it, I didn't resent tanking. So I actually played tank. I also played DPS a fair amount too because it wouldn't guarantee a trash composition like it does usually.
