The game is cross-play in more casual modes. Not having cross-progression even later down the line would be odd.

Yeah from what I've seen it's just Sony preventing from being implemented. They feel they deserve a cut of the revenue just because they own one of the platforms the game is on. To be honest it just makes me want to give Sony less money because I hate greedy bastards that prevent progress and innovation. Sony you aren't hosting the servers as far as I'm aware, you are doing nothing and expecting to get paid for it. People buying a PS5 to play the game should be enough of a reason but greedy bastards can never get enough.

Get back to playing, I also played rivals on my PlayStation before I got my Pc back. And just trust me there is a possibility of it taking a long time. Currently it is not their top priority. apex legends took 4 years to get cross progression, but with how good the marvel rival dev team has been to the community I'd hope for less than a year.

I sure hope so, I swapped from PS5 to PC cause all my PS friends don't play rivals as much (no comp) as my PC friends (comp), but all my skins are locked in my PS5 account 😭 and I'm not trying to spend all that money again
