Can we appear offline while in game?

You can right click the game in your steam library and click Manage > Mark As Private. You'll appear online, but others won't see you're in any game you mark as private.

EDIT: Wait, I'm showing offline on steam, have the game marked as private, and people are still messaging me, I'm confused. Am I missing something?

You want to appear offline In-game yes?

Get on the game. Move mouse to your icon and click the little arrow on it and there's the options for you to be online, away or offline.

Thank you for your reply. I understand that part... I was wanting to appear offline -before- signing into the game.

That way friends dont see me sign in, then go offline, then I get messages like "Aw too good for us huh?" and it's like nah, some nights I just dont feel like grouping.

That new feature to mark games in Steam as private is nice. Sometimes I need a break from my CSGO team and just want to be Jeff the Landshark for a bit, you know

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I marked Rivals as private, and people on my friends list (in game) still see me and message me.

Is there away to appear offline in-game before signing in?

Have you marked yourself as Invisible, under the Friends section in the Steam client up top?

I've never tried it myself but looking into it is supposed to not notify others when you begin a game or sign on or any of that

Edit: But this is only Steam and I'm getting confused on which service you wish to not be seen on now

I was trying to appear offline in Rivals -before- signing in, if possible.

I understand that marking the game as private in the steam client only affects your steam friends and not your Rivals friends while in-game
