Marvel Rivals
A Two-Month-Long Journey Through Hell, But I Finally Got The Game to Work: A Guide to the Best Personal Settings to Marvel Rivals | Steam
I just wanted to help anyone that has still been struggling through fps drops-high CPU/GPU usage. Since release day, I have been constantly struggling to get a stable frame rate, no matter what my settings were, with the intention of a well running and beautiful-looking game. I currently run the game with a NVIDIA 4060, so I knew I could run the game, just constantly facing problems with frame drops and hardware usage. A few nights ago, after playing for a half hour I could feel the heat from my machine, while I was sitting four feet away. Somethin is wrong here.

The best solution I have found is to run the resolution at full screen, with the size being whatever your monitor is set at. For me, it was 1366x768, but for some reason to get this resolution, I had to optimize Marvel Rivals through my NVIDIA center, THEN go into the game and change the resolution to full screen. When you change it to full screen, the resolution will be correctly set from your monitor, instead of a random number from a short selection, at least in MY case. This gives a MUCH better performance than Border-less Windowed, while giving the same quality! Next, make sure you're using your primary graphics card as the resolution driver. Okay, This next step is the cool part. turn your resolution scaling to the absolute highest setting, native if you have it, that's what I'm using, and scale it all the way to 100, the max. Turn frame rate limit and V-sync off, and, at least for the NVIDIA settings, turn OFF the Frame Generation and low latency. I know this lowers GPU usage, but I find after completing these settings, I don't think you'll need it. For the last two steps, turn your Global Illumination and Reflections to the "Screen Space" reflections. I find these to be an un-noticeable difference in quality compared to Lumen, if not better. The problem I find with Lumen, is it uses DX12, an Unreal Engine process, that hits MUCH harder on performance. I really don't recommend using Lumen for this game if you're trying to achieve stable running, it just seems very unnecessary to me. the last step, is to change ALL of your GRAPHIC settings to the absolute lowest it can go. Performance if possible, but low is the most common one you'll see.

You're all set after that! with all of these settings, I find the resolution scaling set to the highest settings possible with your primary graphics driver, a disabled frame generation and low latency, and the lowest reflection and graphics settings possible, the game looks BEAUTIFUL, the lowered graphics settings are not noticeable in the slightest, and the frame rate has not dropped for me one time since applying these settings, and I don't even have the best internet, I live out in the middle of nowhere! The best part is that the performance on HARDWARE in my machine has been awesome after applying these, before, with graphic settings on ULTRA, but a low resolution and scale, my computer would reach as high as 95 degrees Celsius, with four fans and a liquid-air cooler installed. Like, when I run Red Dead Redemption II, at MAX settings, it doesn't reach NEARLY these temperatures. Wack. Currently though, after two hours of playtime, my machine BARLEY reaches the degrees in the 60s-50s Celsius. For me, the hardware with these settings is just barley touched, which is why I recommend turning off the Low Latency and Frame Generation settings, again, I realize they lower GPU usage when possible, but all I find when turning that, or Frame Generation mode, even with the rest of the settings applied, is insane lag. I DO however, recommend turning ON your "Hardware-Accelerated GPU" setting, it really helps the games frame rate! (This can be found at |Windows/Settings/Display/Graphic Settings/Turn ON Hardware Accelerated GPU, you'll have to restart your machine for it to take affect!) if you do turn this on, I find it just overall helps EVERY game, if not just newer ones! You should be all set after all of this is applied to your game! The game will look beautiful, while also limiting usage on your hardware and GPU, and, the most important and best part, you'll have a great, STABLE frame rate.

I am not a professional at knowing all of my computer settings, what works best and when, on what components, and I want to DEEPLY apologize if this guide does not work for you, or is not helpful to you. I, personally, have just been in a battle through the armies of Hell to get this game to work properly, achieve stability, and look beautiful on a machine that is capable. I have watched over 75 different videos, read countless Reddit and discussion boards and messed around with the display and internet settings of this game since December 6th of 2024. The day the game launched. I am finally done with the battle, and just felt like I had to give a guide on the settings that work best on MY computer, just in case if it helps another poor soul out there, that's just trying to play a game that they love. Nothing in gaming is worse, than wanting to play a game, and not being able to play it. ESPECIALLY when you own it. Even more so when you know you can, but you don't know whats wrong lol

I hope this guide at least helps someone out there, we need as many guys out there knocking out those Jeff's and Scarlet Witches as possible lol :)

As a side-note, PLEASE totally disregard this section if you just want the provided information! Thank you for reading, I just hope I helped you, I know running this game and finding it's solutions can be very frustrating. Hopefully you're in much better shape, and I'll see you on the battlefield!

today happens to be the day the "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" skin is added to the game, and as I write this guide, I not only just got the game how I want it, but I just got the skin :)

Spider-Man was my first superhero, and one of my favorites, and the "Marvel's Spider-Man" series is my favorite series of games. I played the PS4 2018 version of the first game since day 1 in college 7 years ago, moved to the PS5, and eventually PC with all of the games, even tonight I'm moving to the PC version of Spider-Man 2, after almost 300 hours on the PS% version since launch. Even have the 19-inches of venom statue lol.

I'm really excited that I not only have the game running beautifully but that I can begin playing the game to the fullest, with my favorite adaption of the character! A full-circle moment :)

- Thanks for reading! Good Luck! :)

Try reducing the polling rate of your mouse to 500hz. It removed all fps drops for me
