Competitive Matchmaking doesn't make sense

Hello enjoyers of Marvel,

I am a bit confused about the ranked system in the game and the overall matchmaking system. I played a few games of competitive and I noticed something weird. My first two games (I am level 11 or 12 I think) were against low skilled players and I mean like new players. As and ex.:
1) The combined dmg of my 4 teamates were around 10 k while mine as a healer was like 12 k. We lost those games for the simple reason that the tanks didn't press W. I just killed 3 people and died. The team simply refused to press w and we lost.
2) My next match after those 2 were with a lobby of full ex plats from OW. The game was pretty close and fun (I think we lost) but it was close. (Plats in bronze? wtf?)
3) My third game the enemy team had 2 diamonds 2 golds 1 silver and 1 player I don't know because he didn't say. My team I don't know because they didn't talk at all but they were at least gold from the way they were playing. (Again there is no player that was bronze in bronze?).
4) My next 3 games were around gold as an average skill level with maybe the exception of a black panther that has gone 0/3. One of the player confirmed he was ex DIamond the rest didn't say anything.
5) There were a few more games with varied skill levels in them but I don't remember them clearly.
6) My last game was me on solo healer but the flow of the game with dive, tracking aiming, and ulti usage was around plat level again (I am an ex High Plat/low Diamond player so it was a very familiar feeling for me.

My question is why the f**k I don't encounter bronze players in bronze? What is going on? I am half expecting in my next games to encounter top500 players. Is there no skill matchmaking. Is there no MMR? I got placed in bronze and I was quite happy about it because it would let me get used to the maps and heroes abilities while I would be in a stress free environment. Jokes on me I guess. Could someone be kind enough to explain me the rank system in this game. I have gone with expectation that would be similar to Overwatch but it seems it was a false assumption. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Update:
I reached Bronze II and the game told me that I reached top 47% of the server population. You want to tell me that MORE THAN half (53%) of the playerbase is in bronze 3?. The matchmaking is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Hope they are working on it. The matches have no semblance of a competitive game.

this game has no skilled based matchmaking and you don't know who you will be facing could be smurfs could be a premade stack many different factors come in to play.also might i add everyones rank was reset by 7 ranks from season 0 and it will reset every season

Really? Is this confirmed by the devs? Because it seems like total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if this is the case.

Do we talk about MR ranks or ex oW ranks?
When we talk about ex ow ranks, yeah MR doesn't know OW ranks and everyone starts in Bronze 3 so yeah you can encounter ex Dia player here when they just started MR ranked.

Some would say its rigged matchmaking but hey im climbing with 70% winrate right now so..

all I know is that this new season, people's rank dropped down a few teirs. I was in bronze 3 again at the start of this season but now barely under diamond.

also there are smurfs who have accounts to 'play with friends'

but all day today I've had teamates on my team that play like they should be in bronze. literally the entire ranked game (high plat) my teams' KOs ended at 3, 5, 2 all around the board.

then later I ended up on a team where we didnt even let the enemy team leave their spawn. literally pushed the vehicle further than they did in 11 seconds.

idk wth this is.

1. There are no placement maches in Rivals, so everyone starts with bronze 3.

2. Access to game is free, so nothing prevents people from making alt accounts and smurfing.

3. Game allows wide rank range to team up in competitive play.

4. Lots of trolls in game actively throwing. Your Black Panter is not a single case. I got yestarday a platinum player, who mained healer playing 7 different heroes in one game with his final score 0:7 kills/deaths. If thats not trolling then maybe some bot software.

5. There are hints that game in fact does not use skill based matchmaking algorithm.

6. In season 1 everyone was deranked by 7 divisions and start from scratch.

I don't think black panther was trolling he was doing his best. He was only misplaced by the matchmaking system. Your experience sound rough af :( hope it improves.

This pretty much. Someone could have 1000 hours on OW ranked, some could be playing their very first hero shooter. For example I'm not amazing player by any means but I know not to over-extend and go 1v5 as healer. But I see that A LOT in quick play and in some ranked matches from enemy.

The first seasons and start of seasons are always rough before playfield goes even.

I didnt play "S0" so I dont know will next season put everyone to bronze again.. but if they do, its gonna be one messy start of season. But it could be beneficial to some being carried, pure luck :P

And well, some people just have bad days and games. Some get tilted and dont take break when they should. Those will always happen, sad facts of ranked
