That's not how memory leaks work, they are not specific to the amount of ram you have.

Memory leaks are basically the game not releasing used memory when it is done with it, so when it needs more it just assigns more.

You will have the same issue if you have 8Gb / 16Gb / 32Gb or more, It's just having more will make it take longer for your machine to come to a grinding halt.

I have 32Gb in my machine with a 32Gb swapfile and I have the same issue as yourself. The ram fills up, the swapfile fills up, the system comes to a grinding halt until the memory management in linux kicks in and kills the offending process (which is the game)

No, you were spot on about it having a memory leak. I was just giving you some information on what an actual memory leak is / does and that it can affect anyone with any amount of ram.

Other posts of either similar issues or reported memory leaks

I used to get freezes for 2+ seconds at a time, but they went away somewhat recently. I am on 16 GB ram with every setting either set to low or off. No upscalers, no frame generation and an fps lock at 30.

Possible causes:
- you are below 16 GB RAM and that's the minimum,
- your CPU is maxing out/overheats causing the stutters,
- you are playing on an HDD instead of SSD,
- you are maxing out your VRAM with too high settings.

If CPU is the issue then locking your fps to a value below the average framerate will help a lot.

I've not played in a couple of weeks because of the issue, Hopefully it was fixed then in the latest patch from last week.

I will re-install the game to see

as for my specs

Ryzen 5 5700x3d
32 Gb ram @ 3600mt/s
Amd Rx 7700xt
Linux - Kernel 6.12.3
Latest Mesa-git
Latest GE-Proton

Game installed on an SSD
and I only play at 1080p (since my monitors are 1080p)
