This is what it took me to Solo Queue from Bronze III to Gold III today

im solo q to diamond, so its skill issue

The deniers will defend the matchmaking until the end of time but the simple truth is that this game uses engagement optimized matchmaking and to rank up you just have to play a lot of games. I have solo queued so far to diamond 2 this season from bronze 3 and I can say for certain that the matchmaking decides who wins most of the games. Unfortunately it's impossible to truly know what rank that players really belong in because the matchmaking is so bad. Even in diamond 2 I still see players that refuse to ult, get extremely diffed, etc. I consistently get the highest healing in every round I play, and most of the time the other healer gets significantly less to average it out with the enemy team. Also, if you have a 50% winrate or more, the game will attempt to lower winrate to get to 50% by giving you players that are more likely to grief, be really bad, or disconnect.

Ive been hit by the solo elo hell now by 1 win out of 10 games. I think my tactic of filling slots are not working, I should just instalock a character I mostly win with.

filling is a great way to climb but it also requires you to know a lot more about the game and be proficient with multiple characters in different roles. maybe just find 1 or 2 heroes in each role and stick to those.

yep just had groot wall of our spawn and threw the game for us, the devs are terrible at abnning players.ranked aswell

Untrue. Have had many times my reports led to them getting in trouble.

Can confirm on the win rate algorithm. I started off with like a 90% win rate from bronze up to silver 1. Almost touched Gold and then it was like the code was set on bringing me to 50% win rate with leaver after leaver. Sadly it's how Elo systems work, and I simply don't have the patience for that. Was almost gold with only like 18 games played. The algorithm was not having it.
