Oh that is a good idea!
Just look at any PvP game, the most they do is add PVE EVENTs like league of legends and even Overwatch has pve events and its always the most dead game mode after a day lol
And would love to see PvE mode in this game.
But saying it would skyrocket it in popularity is just factually not correct. And represents only your subjective opinion OP.
PvP as sad it is is much more suited to lure in and maintain a constantly higher number of active playerbase than PvE. That's just fact. PvE wouldn't skyrocket this game's popularity. It would extend the current playerbase by a certain amount of percentage. But wouldn't be able to uphold for too long.
Games like this and league of legends are infamous and well known for having toxic fanbases who take the game overly seriously thinking they at the Olympics, meta chasing and all that crap.
The reason why player numbers drop are because new players don’t want the above and I don’t blame them and there’s nothing wrong with accommodating to people who want to play occasionally.
A PvE mode themed on marvel would do well.
PVE would be a completely new game altogether.
If you want Marvel PVE go play X-Men Legends, Marvel Ultimate Alliance instead.
You're in the wrong genre.
PVE vs PVP is very different. Making a Marvel Rivals PVE "mode" isn't just a simple PVE Mode, it would be an entirely new game by itself, with the development costs to boot.
There's a reason why Overwatch 2 dropped the PVE mode, whcih was the only reason it was even supposed to exist -- it costs too much to make a PVE "mode" it's an entire new game with the dedvelopt cycle and costs of an entire new game. If it's just a simple PVE Mode it would be simplistic, lacking in options, and lacking in content -- exactly like existing Overwatch PVE modes we already have today -- modes which nobody plays after a an hour.
There are actual PVE Marvel games. Try Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 for starters. There's also Marvel's Avengers. Even Lego Marvel. These games will give you a far better PVE experience than a half-assed tacked on PVE mode for Rivals ever could.
And this is what people who all ask for "PVE Mode' don't understand. They don't even understand the genre and what they are asking for.
PVP games largely work by giving a strong mechanical platform where the actual "content" is taken care of by players themselves, who provide emergent gameplay experiences for you to fight against..
PVE games are just you against AI, and AI isn't anywhere near advanced enough to create emergent gameplay for people to enjoy over along period of time. That's why PVE games are CONTENT HEAVY they can't succeed otherwise. If a PVE game doesn't have much content, people will blow through it in an hour and that's the end of that.
A lot of the development costs for PVE games goes into making content -- more levels, more enemies, more story, more cut scenes, etc. That's what you people are after right? That's why you're not content just playing against AE Bots in Practice Mode.
The problem is, all that content costs MONEY and TIME to make. That would be development time longer than it took to make the actual Marvel Rivals game. All of you asking for PVE mode don't want a half-assed tacked on PVE mode, you want all the bells and whistles as you are used to from AAA games like God of War, Spiderman, GTAV, RDR2, etc.
And sadly you will never get that here, that's basically an entirely new game.
