Comp can take 15+ minutes. Quick play is called quick play for a reason.
You can check your match history in tracker.gg. In-game, bots have fake player names. But tracker.gg sees through this.
I haven't seen bots in comp yet.
People who think bots don't exist are either playing in stacks where they don't lose more than once in a row or don't want to accept that their 25-0 game was against bots hahahahah.
This was a POSITIVE thing once, but you're probably too young to remember Unreal Tournament. Having competent NPC teammates/opponents has long been a goal of FPS developers.
When you get to the top ranks, you don't see anywhere near as many matches as you do on Gold or Plat or whatever. There's far, FAR fewer players at the top, and it's REALLY easy to get bored of seeing the saaaaaaaaaaaaaame opponents doing the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame things day in and day out. It's not engaging at all.
Enter the NPC. Always up for a match, never has to sleep, never has to AFK, never ragequits. Always does its best. Problem is, its best isn't nearly good enough at present for the best humans.
So, they develop. And what better place to use than Quickplay, and what better way to test the idea than with players who, God love 'em, just can't win?
I should note though that I play at all kinds of hours so sometimes my server population is likely to be low.
I like the short queue times, and I definitely like that bots fill slots when someone leaves/disconnects/crashes/etc. while it searches for more players (people will tell you they get filled quickly but those people do not pay attention to the chat because no, they do not always get filled quickly and I've in fact gone entire matches with a bot tank)
98% of players of this game would break down in tears against the hardest UT bots.
I wish we had bots that hard here.
if you play against 3 stars bots in Practice VS AI they actually give a real challenge. I don't understand why bots are insanely stupid in quick play, or why there are bots at all.
Quickmatch needs to be for newer players or the casuals who don't want to go into ranked. It should be 12 people, not 8 people and 4 bots.
