Besides the general tank creed of being a meatshield for your team, venom is uniquely suited to being a distraction. While your team is engaging the enemy, get in the enemy's business (I tend to go for the backline, slam into em and rmb) and mess things up. Force them to pay attention to you. Maybe try and kill one of the supports. This will give your team an advantage as they engage. Of course, make sure you have an exit strategy - becoming the focus of the enemy's attention will kill you quick, so keep your finger proverbially on your E when your hp gets low, and use shift to swing away once your time is up. If you can't, you die, unless your team has your back.
The rest I play by ear! I'm curious to hear what other tips people got for Venom here.
