Your Thoughts: Are Chronotokens too hard or too easy to acquire? (S1)
UPDATED:

Alright, I noticed just today the amount of weekly challenges appear to be increasing, previously it was at 12, then 15, and now at 18 as of today.

It seems there is some sort of mechanic at play that gives more challenges as a season progresses further, so in theory even if you took a break for a week you can come back and have 18 whole challenges to do and catch up on chronotokens that way.

Very interesting!

Leave your thoughts/opinions below! I'm curious to hear how others feel about this.
(Be nice!!)

------
TLDR: Give players more ways to gain chronotokens after completing challenges (without spending money!~)
------

Personally I'm quite concerned with the current battlepass and unlocking its contents is designed. My main issue with Marvel Rivals battlepass is that you as the player have no real control over when you want to grind out some of the premium contents, instead you are forced into a hard track of completing challenges that regenerate, in my opinion, too slow for how many tokens you require.

I hope they revise chronotokens as the current system discourages single longer sessions, as once you complete all your challenges (which are not hard to do) there is no way to gain chronotokens outside of buying them with premium currency.

I suppose I wish players had a little more freedom in choosing when they want to progress the pass, I'm personally not a fan of how everything is on rails unless your willing to spend more money to buy chronotokens.

Potential solutions could be something like:
-having minor chronotoken rewards for playing games
-more frequent challenge regeneration
-increasing chronotoken reward amounts from current challenges
-or any combination of the above.

My main idea I'm trying to get across is: players should not be penalized for playing longer sessions in a single day, there should be some way of acquiring tokens (and thus progressing the pass) for simply playing the game much like Fortnite or whatever else.

This gives the player freedom to choose whenever they would like to play and grind out the battlepass, which I argue is much better than waiting for challenges to reset like our current system.

Thanks for reading, I have some of the math I did below, feel free to comment, give your opinion or thoughts, be nice to eachother though please lol.

----- Maths

Ignoring the first page of the pass and the gallery cards you require 12,800 tokens to unlock the remaining contents (sprays, skins, whatever).

You regenerate 4 daily missions per day, you regenerate 3 challenges every 2 days (It may be every day and a half, however I am not certain of the exact rate).

With these assumptions...
that is 240 tokens for two days of daily missions
and 240 tokens per two days from challenges.
You gain 480 tokens every 2 days,
therefore 240 tokens per day (only if you play every single day.)

To unlock all content within the battlepass, dividing 12,800 by 240/day, that comes out to 53 consecutive days.
The current season has a duration of 86 days (at time of writing)

For me that is quite a huge time commitment, especially for someone like me who is a bit sporadic with my choice in games, I simply hope its better than I think it is, feel free to give me hope that its not as bad as I think it is aaaa!!!

(PLEASE prove me wrong!)

Thanks for readin!

They're fine. You have 90 days to fill out the BP.
I'd love to have the ability to unlock any given page at any given time without the X amount of tokens requirement. The battle pass is 3 months and you have the time to get it all, but fluidity in how and when you unlock preferred skins would be welcome.
They give tokens for event challenges, more of which are unlocked furhter in season we are.
It's a fairly common thing in BP systems, where going through BP at the end of a season will be much faster and easier than on release. A catch up mechanic, if you will.

Not counting special events, like Jeff winter one. There will be more things to do. That's how all those system always designed to be.

They just need to let us unlock what we want from the battlepass instead of this "spend x amount to unlock next page" crap. I dont main rocket raccoon but I do main Namor so I would like to skip that page and go get sexy namor skin without grinding.
we have to see how it feels by S2 release. But rn i cant imagine people earning enough of them to get to lvl 10 of the BP consistently. The rewards are pretty few and far between, and it still takes hours to get all the daily's. Leads to stale gameplay, poor decision making to finish missions, and sweaty amount of playing the game. Not great for casuals thats for sure.

I definitely think there are somewhat too few missions available at any one time. There's no question the game is trying to go for a mobile style "play every day" format, but it's annoying that you can finish all of your challenges in 3-4 games tops and then have nothing else to do for another 24 hours.

This is also Chinese-made game, and guess what China has in their country?

"In August 2021, the Chinese government introduced new restrictions to limit the time under-18s can spend gaming online. The restrictions now allow young gamers to only play on public holidays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8 pm to 9 pm."

I'd imagine battlepass currency being mostly tied to missions, as younger people can't legally play more than 1 hour in China, thus making so if grinding was required, it'd make those younger unable to even complete battlepass at all.

Neither. But the issue is with the timegating.
Your only way to get tokens is to do daily weekly ect tasks. Which you do and then what? You play the game further but have no way to aquire more till the tasks refresh.

This is a very cheap way to manipulate or even force people to play every day just to not waste their purchased BP.

Never thought I would say this but how Blizz did it in Overwatch 1 even though it was technically a loot box, that system was still the best out there. That every single match you played contributed towards your next box.
But i have generally an issue with Battlepasses when there is also an in game premium skin shop.
Do either this or that. Companies like this who do both are on the bottom of the greedy factor.
Still on the fence about the progression, will see how it feels when the season ends.
The timegating feels bad, and if you don't buy the version with token boost it feels kinda bad. Did all missions and 2 of the 4th page of the event today (challenges are gated still), earned 300. one page takes around 1600 to unlock the skin. so around 3 to 4 days per page if you manage to do all the stuff.
I don't like feeling that I need to play a game, being manipulated into FOMO or artificial player retention. So probably won't be buying more battlepasses.
Feels all right. Playing daily I'll have 20-30 days of leeway. Plenty to finish the pass.

Im just glad you dont have to spend them on things you dont want to unlock more pages, you just need to get them. Tho im still not a fan of battle passes and the whole "play for 50 hours to get the skin you want"

you should really just be able to earn it from playing the game and not have to put your team at a disadvantage by going for challenges. the 20% extra bonus being locked in the $20 pass seems odd as well since most games boost that in the base pass.

It does say "*Never expires after purchase and rewards can be unlocked in any future season." which is a good thing to see at the very least. few games do that so i can kinda see how they justify the excessive grind easier.

You actually just unlock 3 more challenges every few days. However, once you complete them, they don't refresh until the end of the season.

I think the answer for Chrono Tokens is actually to give out a few every time you complete a hero progression mission. Note that these are infinite.
