IMPORTANT Note on Old Purchased Battle Passes

Long story short - if you have purchased a previous battle pass and did not complete it, upon that season's completion, you will need to re-acquire chronounits again from 0 to reach the page where you left off.

For example, if are only able to reach page 4 on the Season 1 battle pass that you paid for but did not complete the rest of the pass, once Season 2 starts, you will need to acquire 3200 chrononunits to unlock the 4th page again to resume claiming the rest of the rewards in said battle pass.

My personal opinion is that extremely little effort went into disclosing this information to consumers. The purchase screen for the Luxury Battlepass claims that purchased passes will never expire. If you click the "i" at the top of this page, you will find "Details" regarding how battle passes work. These details never explicitly disclose this particular point. After pinging the playerbase, the above dev post was all I could find on the topic. If I missed this very important detail anywhere on the purchase page, please feel free to correct me. But as of 2025/01/13, I see no such indication on the Luxury Battlepass purchase screen.

Is this a dark pattern/bad practice? Does this fuel the FOMO fire? Decide for yourself. But hopefully, this post let's you make a more educated purchase when considering spending money on this game. Either way, it's clear these devs are NOT on your side so make sure you read ALL the fine print when investing any sort of money in a live service. Just be warned, hunting down that fine print may involve scouring through old blog posts.

Then again, having to raise the cap again shouldn't be that big of a deal since I guess it happens for every BP you own simultaneously. It is a minor setback for sure. Not the end of the world. But definitely didn't feel all that good.

I admittedly skimmed the info page when I purchased Season 0. I was excited to have heard that, for once, season passes remain after the season ends. After playing Helldivers 2 for months now, I assumed good will. I didn't bother to really scrape the terms for the fine print. That's partially on me.

However, when I asked about whether or not this was a thing online, most had simply directed me to the page I linked in my original post without mentioning the info button at all. I am of the camp of simplifying monetization so people know what they're buying and clarifying all the technical stipulations up front prior to purchase without having to scrape links or click small info buttons. But this is just my opinion on the matter.

I'm not peeved at the players in this discussion at all. Mostly at the company and at myself. Just relaying an experience and trying to help newer players make more informed purchases.

This is honestly pretty good advice in general - just buy after you've made it decently far already.
