Have you considered if your GPU, RAM, or storage is out of date? Potentially the cause.

Post your PC specs and make sure your drivers are up-to-date for better assistance.
This was happening to me until I put the game on my SSD.

Exactly. You need a solid-state drive to run this game. Otherwise you will be the last to load in every single game.

this seems like bad optimization. "if you don't put the game on an ssd, well good luck even playing before the match is over"
i know it's an exaggeration , but I don't know of any other games where this is a problem.

It's an unreal engine 5 game, which is partly why it matters so much. If you switch between a hard drive and an SSD on any game, you will notice a significant increase in load speeds.

yea but it's not like it's even loading something like a large area map with tons of players like an mmo might be, its a 6v6 in a small mini map. It's like they decided to ignore efficiency just to put out better graphics and let the user bear the burden of not forking over for hardware. Overwatch 2 hardware requirements are MUCH less than this and the dates of release are not that far apart.

I've had multiple games that require being on a fast storage device to either run properly or to make sure I load in with everyone else.

Unreal Engine 5 just sucks. Almost any game using it has issues, especially with certain processors. Also, there really wasn't much of an optimization difference between OW 1 and 2. That game came out almost 10 years ago.

That statement isn't entirely true. Ow1 vs 2, there was pretty significant improvements in the visuals department. It's actually about the only difference from 1 vs 2, besides a few heroes, map pool, and adding in monetization. Just the fresh coat of paint.

The game does look modern, and it plays very well on pretty much all hardware. The same cannot be said for this game. You basically have to run it on mobile game settings to get decent fps.

wasnt happening before the update

First, make sure that your wifi is fast and stable. And that you have a good ping.

Check in-game settings.

Next, are your drivers up-to-date?

Also, if your on an intel cpu, is your BIOS up-to-date?

If yes to all of this, then I would make sure you aren't running any OC's. Monitor your hardware, see if anything seems strange.

You just validated my point if anything by saying they made only visual improvements and added heroes. The game has the same performance it's had.

Unreal Engine 5 does suck. It's more about appearance than actual performance. That's why I was agreeing with you.

Its crazy how more demanding games run better.

The point I was making though is that Overwatch is able to retain that modern look and keep the high fps. Marvel rivals isn't.

I can play overwatch 1440p, all ultra and get 165.

I need Rivals on all low to reach that.
