Its a FPS where most characters are hitscan or melee with slow standard movement and no crouching.
What you want aren't simple heroes, but heroes you don't have to aim on, which is Scarlett which sometimes and cloak and dagger
So you need to learn other characters at least as a backup. Or don't bother - if you won't ever go beyond plat, do whatever you want.
i'm just trying to figure out who else I can play competently is all. I just feel the second I try anyone else, I just keep dying and dying. but suddenly when i pick SG, then i barely die at all (I keep thinking KDA in terms of league; minimize deaths, maximize kills/assists)
It's bad because if anyone else chooses you're main you're screwed. You need to know at least 6 heroes so you aren't helpless if the worst case scenario comes to pass.
Also being good at only Squirrel Girl is the worst possible thing in this game.... because Squirrel Girl requires ZERO skill to get value out of. Literally anyone who can hold down the LMB can get value out of squirrel girl. You don't even need to look at the enemy most of the time.
As for other "simple" heroes to use.... you can try Namor, Scarlet Witch and Dagger. These are probably the "easiest" heroes to use out of everyone. Namor throws turrets. You lose out big time if you can't aim with the trident, but the turrets at least ensure you are never deadweight. Scarlet Witch and Dagger are super easy to aim with and you can get decent value out of them at low ranks.
Try them all in the practice range and see what you gel with.
Why change if you're good with her?
i'm a literal one trick - and while im good, it'll be bad for my team if i can't switch to fill a missing role
So basically every 12s
o Cloak: 200-250 self healing / 12s + 40 hp/s aoe healing if healing/attacking targets within 8m of daggers
o Mantis: 150 hp/12s. (But constant)
o Luna: 135 hp/12s (But on demand, but linked to her peel / abilities)
Cloak does tickle dmg and previously had a 44% gm wr, often when mains were banned and the others went expert rocket/adams with luna/mantis bans.
But she's unironically seeing gm play even when Invis/Luna snow / mantis are available Even though im not sure if she's a top pick, since their teams still seem to lose a fair amount and win a fair amount. But Cloak and dagger gets near 90% dagger / beam value with very generous aim. Self healing (before buff it was inconsistent, now it's much better), and her ult is much more able to get value with 4 vs 3.
Aside from that, just practice aim/sensitivity, the practice range has a underground area you can practice against 5 bots and change them to player models in settings.
And vs ai isn't as good for gamesense as real players, but it's fair to practice aiming at teammates / healing / team comps even if sometimes the ai easy is like set to maybe silver.
I play Squirrel girl too, penny is a lot of fun if your team plays with you or just act like hulk where the maps will allow and just bounce around a lot throwing mines at all the lanes and med packs you can see. Your nest should be a death trap, corners are your friend and focus on killing the tacticians first.
