SCARLET WITCH (Gameplay Update)
I’ve been playing Scarlet Witch consistently since the beta and have thoroughly enjoyed her. However, as new heroes are introduced with kits that beautifully translate their comic book personas into gameplay, Scarlet Witch feels like she’s been left behind. Her kit lacks proper identity and doesn’t do justice to the complexity and power of her character.
Below are my thoughts on how Scarlet Witch’s kit could be elevated to make her gameplay more unique and rewarding. After countless hours of playing her, I’ve found her abilities uninspiring and, frankly, underpowered compared to other heroes.
As a long-time fan of Scarlet Witch in the comics, I don’t feel rewarded when playing her. Matches often feel repetitive and lack the dynamic satisfaction her character deserves. Whether I’m holding down primary fire, spamming secondary abilities to chip away at health, or using Dark Seal hoping it achieves anything meaningful, the experience falls flat. Mystic Projection is unreliable for evasion, as buggy grapples and other attacks still hit me despite the ability’s supposed immunity. Finally, her ultimate, Reality Erasure, feels great when executed safely and effectively, but the lack of CC immunity or bonus health during its cast often deters me from using it, turning it into more of a DPS loss than a high-impact moment.

Suggested Changes to Scarlet Witch’s Kit
(New) Passive: Darkhold
As one of the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Universe, Scarlet Witch deserves a passive ability that reflects her immense potential and ties into her abilities in a meaningful way.
Passive Effect:
Every [X] seconds, your next ability is empowered.

Telekinesis
When I first saw this ability, I was hoping for a dynamic power to lift, throw, or manipulate debris and even enemies. Currently, its functionality as a slow-fall ability doesn’t capture the essence of telekinesis. Here’s how it could be improved:
Base Effect:
• Hold Space to slowly fall.
• (New) Double-tap Space to propel upward and enter free-flight, granting better control and allowing her to engage aerial threats more effectively without relying solely on Mystic Projection.
Darkhold Empowered:
• Enter free-flight and hurl debris at a targeted location, dealing damage to enemies.

Primary and Secondary Fire
Chaos Control (Secondary Fire)
Scarlet Witch’s signature probability hex bolts have always been a defining feature in her arsenal. Unfortunately, her current design leans on uninspired mechanics, resembling Moira’s siphoning in Overwatch or simplified effects from WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness. Here’s a proposal to make this ability more engaging:
• Reworked into a 12-second cooldown ability that damages and absorbs health from a foe over [X] seconds.
• Alternatively, adjust the auto-lock and range mechanics to make it more skill-dependent but rewarding.
• This ability could also ramp up damage against enemies with blue bonus health, further solidifying her role as a high-magic DPS.
Darkhold Empowered:
• Gain a damage boost for [X] seconds or enhance the lifesteal effect for additional survivability.

Chthonian Burst (Primary Fire)
• Moved to Primary Fire and increased from 4 to 8 charges.
Darkhold Empowered:
• Your next [X] Chthonian Burst(s) inflict a random status condition. (Random conditions applied by Darkhold Empowered effects could enhance her identity with being a probability manipulator)

Mystic Projection
While the ability itself is effective conceptually, its bugs severely hinder its practicality. Grapples, pulls, and other buggy interactions often bypass its immunity mechanic, undermining its purpose as an escape tool.
Base Effect:
• Fix bugs to ensure all grapples, pulls, and crowd-control effects are nullified.
Darkhold Empowered:
• The next Mystic Projection is free and grants increased movement speed.

Dark Seal
This ability currently lacks impact and synergy within her kit. Redesigning it into an area-control tool could add depth to her gameplay.
New Effect:
• Place a rune at a targeted location. When triggered, it stuns enemies and creates an expanding area that deals damage over time while reducing healing effects.
Darkhold Empowered:
• Deals massive damage at the end of its duration.

Reality Erasure (Ultimate Ability)
Her ultimate ability is powerful but impractical due to its vulnerability during cast. Adding some defensive mechanics would make it feel more rewarding to use in high-stakes situations.
New Effect:
• Grants CC immunity or bonus health during its cast.
Darkhold Empowered:
• The affected area expands during the charge and ignores shields.

Final Thoughts
I’m grateful to have Scarlet Witch in Marvel Rivals and will continue to play and support her. However, her current kit lacks the polish and identity needed to stand out among the growing roster of heroes. Minor tweaks and improvements could go a long way toward making her gameplay as powerful and unique as the character we know and love. Without such changes, she risks being overshadowed by newer heroes with more impactful kits.
