If the ToS said you weren't allowed to play the game left handed would you be for that?
You would just blindly defend anything that's in the ToS?
It doesn't matter if you agree with the ToS or not. It is the contract you abide by in order to play the game and maintain an account in the game. If you do not agree or do not wish to abide by the contract, you should play a different game, or face the repercussions, such as being permanently banned.

In other words, if the ToS said I couldn't use my left hand to play the game, and it had a way to detect whether or not I was, I would play a different game; or make a clone of the game that does not have such a restriction.

And for the record, if Netease really wanted to, they could sue skin modders for damages.
As someone who has received multiple DMCA claims from Nintendo for my mod work (as well as one from Criterion for a Burnout mod) I can tell you there's some lines that are foolish to keep crossing. Just walk away.
If they did that, they'd be killing the game in one fell swoop.

Well it hurt their reputation that's for sure. I know many people that aren't gonna support Nintendo cause of them suing palworld.

And no, I mean the mods lol
that would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious if they implemented something like that.

And there's plenty of people that will stop playing this game over lack of mods; there was still over half a million people playing today.

Oh if you stop playing the game cause of mods, you weren't enjoying the game to begin with if you needed to supplement the game with something. But outright going after the creators of the mods would be just...so bad for them

They wouldn't. I can tell you with 100% certainty they wouldn't.

You also sound like a guy that would drink poison if a cop told him to, because "you always obey authority".

Then why did I keep my mod up for over 10 years, even though I got DMCAs before I ever even finished Perfect Heart and Perfect Soul?

You see, there's a difference between crossing lines and pushing your luck. Just because I know when to stop pushing my luck, doesn't mean I don't cross lines.

I don't disagree, I'm simply pointing out that it's in the realm of possibility; on top of being against the ToS.
My main point was that you can be banned, and deserve to be, for modding because it violates the ToS, and that modding opens the doors to cheating which means it should be blocked, because we do not want that door open any further than it already is.

No you didn't.

And it still doesn't matter, it doesn't effect them at all. You didn't buy the battlepass? Okay.
Thousands of other people did.

the way people speak about modding not affecting anything, netease isnt a charity, they want every single dime they can suck out of the players (at least they provide quality that makes you want to buy), if you love your precious mods, go play a game that allows them, you arent obligated to play marvel rivals. (yes its a fun game, but going against the tos you should expect to be punished or for them to patch things.)
I find it weird how you argue that Netease is greedy and want every cent they can get for the purpose of capitalist greed, but then are also against mods and demand we follow ToS and respect them?

Being DMCA happy is a kind of Nintendo specific thing, though. People have done the things Nintendo DMCAs for with Sega, Microsoft and others and they don't care.

I can say with 100% certainty that Netease would not sue someone just for making mods for this game and using them.
The people that would sue are Nintendo, if you were modding in Mario over Star Lord.

damn, so no more skipping login videos n ♥♥♥♥? guess i'll have to stare at the darn screen waiting to be able to play for 10 minutes again watching same videos and warning screens etc. before i can play.. ugh

The point is not that they did prevent mods from being used. The point is they stated that modes aren't allowed. Yeah sure, people will find a way, but don't cry when you are getting banned.

why are people cheating in this game anyway? what is the point.
I only play vs bots, so i don't see any of this nonsense, but still the question is what is the reason for cheating, its a freaking pvp game, it ain't that serious.

You think turning hulk into shrek for the LULZ or adding nude mods is cheating?

Oh right it was because i changed the voice line from "Maximum pulse" for iron mans ult to "Jarvis remove his balls" wasnt it? 100% cheating

Seriously you need a mental health check bud.
Yeah, but IIRC mods allow to wallhack essentially. Not all mods are malicious, but some are, and it's easier to just block and ban everything instead of investigating each case.

And it will be patched out again, eventually permanently. Netease has said they will keep patching every workaround until it's impossible. They are willing to dedicate resources to this.

It sucks, and it's stupid, but they're going to keep going until mods are not possible.
Idk if it's stupid. What PvP competitive multiplayer games allow mods? I don't remember Dota, CSGO, Valorant, CoD or OW be nice about them.
