I only play vs bots, so i don't see any of this nonsense, but still the question is what is the reason for cheating, its a freaking pvp game, it ain't that serious.

And it will be patched out again, eventually permanently. Netease has said they will keep patching every workaround until it's impossible. They are willing to dedicate resources to this.

It sucks, and it's stupid, but they're going to keep going until mods are not possible.

I mean, at the end of the day, if they do stupid things, then they'll lose the playerbase for their current golden goose; it's in their best interest to keep mods available, as that is a HUGE draw in their favor.

if mods were allowed, eventually modders will find a way to make cosmetics free even if only the person using them can see it, thus there is 0 reason to spend money when you can just download a mod for free cosmetics, and then the game dies because nobody spends money (a playerbase isnt the only thing needed to run a game, in the end it comes down to money, and mods would reduce the money)

It's not enough for them to care.
A lot of people boycotted Capcom, review bombed, and complained loudly about their upcoming Enigma DRM which will make modding literally impossible for EVERY game developed by Capcom because they're adding it to their entire back catalog of games.
They don't care, they're doing it anyway.

The game is free to play, skins and cosmetics their method of income, modding in skins negates that. GL and enjoy the ban if you use them.

Its usually a power trip, or they are actually bad at the game and compensating, or both. A number of players want to have the power, so they use cheats and the ability to hold people hostage, as a way to do it.
