I played him and I honestly feel like he's gimp... He's a little bit more durable ( more so when Invis woman's on his team ), but he's slow at securing kills. I had issues securing them even with his ultimate.
I enjoy invisible woman way more then him by far...
This guy is a bait for 3man Duelist players to play a role of second Vanguard.
This guy is a reverse idea of Thor.

Everything about his kit screams he initially was a Vanguard in design and they switched him to Duelist later.
-Primary being low DPS but you can swing it around to hit multiple people (being at the frontline)
-Ability that jumps you to an ally to protect them + give each other shield
-Right click disruption to 1-2 people
-Shift defensive utility
-Passive that triggers to give huge amount of shield and be even more disruptive with damage swings at the front.
-Ult that has a very wide radius and slows people under it more and more.
This isn't the kit of a damage dealer, it's the kit of a tank.
