CPU Usage Issue with Marvel Rivals – Need Help Limiting CPU Cores
Hello,

I’m experiencing a significant issue with Marvel Rivals on my system. Despite actively limiting the CPU usage through both the Task Manager and Process Lasso, the game continues to use all 16 cores of my Ryzen 9 5950X, which severely impacts my system’s performance.

Here are the details of my system:

- CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X
- RAM: 32GB (game is using 6-8GB)
- GPU: RTX 3090 (barely utilized by the game)
- OS: Windows 10 (newest build)
Despite adjusting settings in the game itself and limiting the cores in Task Manager and Process Lasso, the CPU usage remains extremely high and leads to significant performance issues. I’ve noticed similar behavior with some Unreal Engine games in the past, but I haven’t been able to resolve it for Marvel Rivals.

I’ve tried the following solutions:

Limiting CPU affinity in Task Manager (doesn't seem to stick).
Adjusting game settings to lower CPU load (no noticeable change).
Using Process Lasso to limit the CPU cores (but again, the game continues to use all cores).
The game doesn’t seem to be utilizing the GPU as it should either (RTX 3090 is hardly being used), which makes me wonder if there’s something else causing these issues.

I’m reaching out here to see if anyone has found a working solution to actively limit the CPU usage for Marvel Rivals, or if there’s a specific tweak that can be made either in the game or through external software to get this under control. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Try rolling back your gpu drivers to 566.03 see if it helps me and my sons were plagued with a plethora of issues that for the time being seems to be fixed , haven't personally had any issues with cpu usage but just sharing what worked for us

The Main/Only Issue is the CPU hogging that the game does here and it cannot limit it - GPU based i am gucci :D Thanks tho!

Wow, i'll have to go check (I have an i7-12700F). Not often i see a game that uses all cores. Only game i have that does that is Cyberpunk but that's probably because it's running a city (crowd control + traffic).

I've only been monitoring the GPU, SSD, Ram, haven't actually checked the CPU. Usually i end up playing games while waiting for my utilities to finish since they aren't multithreaded (A lot of Blenders tools and other 3D programs aren't multithreaded either, there's penalty when you play games while waiting). Curious what the CPU's being used for.

Is this a trait of the Unreal engine?

EDOT: Nope, i just checked. I'm getting 50-60% cpu usage

In order to limit the cores you need to get the anti-cheat limited... The game will adopt the Core Affinity of the anti-cheat

What performance issues are you running into? You never specified.

You can't really control how much CPU a program uses; the OS is responsible for managing the CPU. Process Lasso won't work in this situation because the game's admin rights bypass any changes you make using Process Lasso.

You have one option that is somewhat viable: limit the framerate. Most of the time, this will reduce CPU use.

Once again its the anti-cheat not the game doing it... but its a micro-stutter... determined the cause its a memory leak... Install Memory Cleaner by Koshy John and it resolves

Will open a report with the devs about the memory leak, hopefully they will fix it
